Best question in a long time.

It's nothing compared to "What is a man?"

Who asked that? :P

Three words to say to this topic: 1. Oh. 2. Hell. 3. Yes.

In just the last few years:

1. High school girls have started dressing like hookers--even the 'nice' ones.
2. We are inundated with violence in the media. The stuff that's shown on daytime TV now is worse than what you used to find late at night with an unscrambler.
3. I NEVER see kids playing outside anymore. Clearly if you let your kid get some fresh air, someone's going to kidnap them.
4. Despite the word 'social' being thrown about so much these days, everyone is so god-damn antisocial. Say hi to someone you pass on the street and they look at you like they don't know what to do and just keep walking by.

Man, I could go on forever.

Great thread.

A big LOL at this thread.

I hope I never reach a point in life where I look at society and think "things were better back in X"

Hard to find someone with passion? Who do you think you talk to on these forums? These are passionate people willing to argue with you for hours about nonsense. You obviously don't get out much either.
You think people are fake, yet you fail to realize that these people who are superficial and repetitive are desperately struggling to be interesting and funny and witty because they are so insecure and because society has shown them so many diamonds. It's so hard to compete, so people do anything they can to stand out and it's really really so beautiful and passionate. It's a well of wishes and dreams and people trying so hard. I've always strived to never repeat jokes and always be original because that's who I am. I wouldn't for one second though, critcize people for their hugging the mainstream and superficial. There is so much hidden behind those facades that's just desperate to burst out. You're blind.

When men worked honest jobs? Guess what? Banking has been around since forever. If you have a humble job, be happy for your humble job and stop being so jealous of others. You can have a right to be mad at ARM startups who caused the housing crisis, but don't lump all bankers together. There are plenty of really great independent and local banks that do a lot for their customers. And on top of it, there are tons of activists who work hard for less than affordable income to bring green technology and recycling and renewable power, or cleaning the streets, or washing oil from wreckages....and they FIGHT to have the right to do that because there are some people who are trying to keep things the way they are. There are plenty of passionate people who are trying to live their dreams and "save the world". What are YOU doing?

The days when women were cultured? You mean repressed! Women were nothing more than statues to show off to guests and friends. Women were relegated to having kids and raising them and housework. Women weren't allowed to travel, always had to have a man with them, and were pretty much devoid of rights. No right to vote, could not own land, could not make decisions regarding property, seldom were hired for jobs, and were nearly completely dependant on their partners, because of whom they've broken off into independence. Fun Fact: Women fought to be what they are today because MEN FUCKED IT UP. A woman's life was a losing proposition for 90% of the last 300 years, and 100% of everything before that, because of their enslavement by men. You look at life as a woman growing up and you think "I have to marry as well as possible, become good at all these household-y things (that I might not even be interested in) have kids, and hopefully, my husband doesn't beat me or gamble away all our money, or die in an accident, or leave me for someone else and LEAVE ME AND MY CHILDREN PENNILESS, HOMELESS, AND AT THE MERCY OF FAR GREATER SLAVEMASTERS. Again dude, fuck you. Why does society value a "sexualized woman"? Because since the dawn of time, the only women with any power were the sex workers, because the only thing a man wants from a woman is a warm *****. It's been that way for thousands of years. Later women's power came in the form of entertainment, cabaret, and sex. You want to question why these facets became mainstream? Ask yourself why men refused to give women anything else. It is all man's fault.

Lots of people go to college to get into careers they want. Let me school you a little on college. College is now the number one requirement for being hired into a good job. Why? Because it shows that you can work hard on a goal while on your own. That is the number one thing. Lots of jobs, unless specific trade skills, do not care what your degree is because they just want to know that you can dedicate yourself. Sorry that that isn't kosher with you, but that's business. Get with the times.

We need a lot less of people like you.

the current change has come because of greed not because of time

because of the banking system, they took money out of the people who are intelligent and work and put it in the hand opf stupid people which will not question the system

and even when i am pointing to old values,i only talk about specific things like respect, dignity, passion.

I'm not even a woman but I'm very offended by that statement

hehe

i just can't keep it in.

i like women who have culture and mature minded. Also deep women.

most women you see today are shallow.

they are so weak minded and insecure that talk in a certain tone of voice and alter their bodies so that they are more dateble.

And yet you skipped right over the part about women.

I too am against what adjustable rate mortgage companies did to us (ie; not banks. ARM startups are the culprit of the housing crisis)

And you also ignore my points about dignity and passion and respect.

Agree to disagree, my good man.

But no one is arguing that women shouldn't go to school or get jobs.

The fact is, walk into the average high school these days:

- The average girl is wearing a six-inch skirt

- Students have little respect for their elders

- The school's day-care is full of kids whose parents are about thirteen years older than them

- The kindergarteners are little shits who can't stop swearing.  When I was that age (which was only 17 or 18 years ago) you would NEVER hear a four-year-old kid tell you fuck off.

Like I said, I could go on forever.

However, neither of us are going to change each other's minds.  I respect your opinion, and I ask that you respect mine.  Again, agree to disagree :)

@thekitchensink

1. On all schools I were Girls from a certain age on were dressing sexually provokative.

2. The same line I heared 15 years ago with games like Resident Evil and the Terminator movies and Hiphop transforming kids into Mass murderer.

3. I see kids playing outside ALL THE TIME . All over Europe.

4. Despite the word antisocial being thrown about as much these says people are still just as big assholes as 20 years ago.

Btw. When I was a child I had a phase were I disrespected my elders too (and everybody around me too).
I think this came right after I realised Old people are often just as stupid and weak as me.

Back in my time Girls dressed like whores too but looks can be decieving a good girl is a good girl even when she is looking like a prostitute or a Heroinaddict. This all belongs to aphase we call puberty and conviniently forget. Biologically speaking kids can be like on drugs for long periods of time in puberty. Hysteric, depressed, manic, horny. And during that time the intensity of the feelings can be extreme.

Life as an adult was in all times a fight against all other adults. This time around its less rape and murder we should be thankful to live right now this is the best time to be alive in all of humanitys history. The further you go in the past the more life sucked.

New media always instilled fear in people romes teachers were in panic of the degenerated youth with no respect for their elders and their horrible graphity. Over 2000 years ago.

Then everyone was paniking over gutenbergs print technology then movies then color movies then videogames Internet. Now Web 2.0

During my life time humanity hasnt changed a bit the internet gave just more insight into how people were all along. Read what the Romans did for entertainment in the circus. Everything you can find on 4chan is just the light version of it.
