PEOPLE.

Metroid Prime isn't a FIRST PERSON SHOOTER. Just like Gears of War isn't a FIRST PERSON SHOOTER.

Gears of War: THIRD person shooter
Metroid Prime: first person ADVENTURE game

It's friggin obvious. It's built on a lock-on system for heaven's sake.

No-one would dare classify Mass Effect as a shooter. Rightly so.

I don't think so.  I think that the fact that there's so much more to the game than just shooting stuff makes it a brilliant FPS. 

Truth be told, Nintendo fans should admit that it's a FPS so we can have more of those on the Wii. :p
