it's not trolling if it's true.
if you compare games from NES, SNES, n64- you know the great games of the past. to today's garbage you see why he in most ways are right.
its like japan is stuck spinning in circles, or worse, regressing.
does anything on the wii compare to super mario 64? heck no. super mario galaxy is worse then mario 64...
mario party 1-3 was fun. mario party 8? sucks.
JRPGs were great back on the PS1 and earlier, when games couldn't do much, it's a new era now and a JRPG can be updated to be... idk, fun for more then just the huge fans.
take the tales series, the only JRPG short of pokemon i have cared about.
tales of vesperia was kinda fun, but it had almost no side quests... it talked about guilds and stuff, why not let me join all the differnt guilds like skyrim? with their own quest lines?
tales of vesperia had a few mini side quests but nothing spectacular or something that feels important.
thankfully the combat wasn't turn based like final fantasy, real time combat please? i mean some people like turn based but does every JRPG have to be turn based?
pokemon is a JRPG that to an extent does it right. lets look at pokemon gold, one of the best.
you have the main story, then you have the bonus of the next area which is basically the original pokemon red/blue.
you also have the battle tower.
and if your dedicated you have the "catch X pokemon" or even more dedicated "catch ALL the pokemon"
above all, it was a hand held ( hand helds you expect to be worse then console, we all do)
and, iirc, pokemon gold, was on the gameboy color, this thing came out like 7-10 years ago. it's sad that games today are LESS fun then games 10 years ago.
and that is why, japanese games suck ( well all games suck this gen it seems, but japanese games seem to have taken the BIGGEST hit.
