DCUO?

That game didn't launch as F2P.

Free Realms did though...

What is Free Realms? xD

MMO.

The game is free but there things you just can do if you pay (not a real FREE to play).

No. You have to pay to get advantage over others players... after that you get exclusive jobs and trophy support... so the game is not "free to play" like the OP said because there are things you can't reach without pay.

So the first TRUE Free To Play for PS3 is Dust 514.

So what you're saying is that even if you can play the game for free, if microtransactions are involved, then it's not free to play? I guess that means DCUO isn't free to play either.

That's what the guy in the interview said... in Dust 514 you can reach/do everything in the game just playing a lot (or you can make the things easy buying... but you can use the full game without pay)... Free Realms and DCUO you just can't use the full game without pay).

That's what I understood in the interview.

hmm
yes but so is DC Universe.. went to download that and its 15GB and if you play a lot can rise to 45GB... i hope we don't have to download that much

... Really??!!!

4 ≈ One

The good thing about CCP is that they release expansions for free on EVE Online. Perhaps they'll do the same for Dust 514 also since its in the same universe.

I want this and whatever PS Vita version they're working on too lol

It's a MMO shooter to play together with EVE... so the consoles users plays the MMO/Shooter and the PC users plays the EVE (MMO Space Ships)... you can receive help from EVE users or so... consoles users plays shooters and PC space ships in the same universe/game.

I'm not sure if my description is correct anyway.

As a old EVE player I'd be glad to join the ranks of the duster. However, I'm still wondering what the exact business model will be.

In this FPS, you'll have first to choose your suit (scout, soldier, heavy suit...) then you'll have to 'fit' your suit with items, such as weapons, shield armor, choose your tanking and such. Each suit have a cpu and powergrid maximum amount, each items you add uses cpu and pg. As the fitting of the ships in EVE, you can use a medium shield extender on a frigate, but you can't fit anything else !!!. Meaning, if you want the big medium shotgun on your scout suit, then you'll have no tank at all...

I've seen in blog posts from EVE/Dust devs that you'll need equipment payed in Dust's money to play.

The big issue I see here is all these items will come at a price, and so will the ammunition. Also, there's vehicules, motos, gunships... When you loose those, then you'll finally loose money, Isks or Aur (isks are EVE's currency, aur will be dust's, however you can't buy isks [legally], but you can buy Aurs ^^).
Since I'm a big TF2 player and an ol' UT2K4 player, with suicidal / close range tendancy, am I going to loose a lot money with my style of play ? I hate playing behind lines in FPS, even when I'm medic in TF2 I'm in the front line !

I'm a bit also concerned with the interaction with EVE players, the capsuleers. They will probably not very happy to spend hard earned iskies, and skills (which can take months, for just a level.. yes, I'm thinking at you Advanced Spaceship Command V !) to develop starbases on planets, to see a bunch of n00bs who don't know what the EVE universe is, waging war next to their own player owned command centers ?

And most of all how the soverignity systems, required for the 0.0 battles will be affected ?

Oh btw, if you intend to be in a corporation, watchout your TS server. We got ours hacked several time during large scale battles to disrupt our communications. Metagaming is very common in EVE, I wonder what is going to happen with Dusters...

Sweeeet! I can't wait! I've always wanted to try out an MMO
