As a old EVE player I'd be glad to join the ranks of the duster. However, I'm still wondering what the exact business model will be.
In this FPS, you'll have first to choose your suit (scout, soldier, heavy suit...) then you'll have to 'fit' your suit with items, such as weapons, shield armor, choose your tanking and such. Each suit have a cpu and powergrid maximum amount, each items you add uses cpu and pg. As the fitting of the ships in EVE, you can use a medium shield extender on a frigate, but you can't fit anything else !!!. Meaning, if you want the big medium shotgun on your scout suit, then you'll have no tank at all...
I've seen in blog posts from EVE/Dust devs that you'll need equipment payed in Dust's money to play.
The big issue I see here is all these items will come at a price, and so will the ammunition. Also, there's vehicules, motos, gunships... When you loose those, then you'll finally loose money, Isks or Aur (isks are EVE's currency, aur will be dust's, however you can't buy isks [legally], but you can buy Aurs ^^).
Since I'm a big TF2 player and an ol' UT2K4 player, with suicidal / close range tendancy, am I going to loose a lot money with my style of play ? I hate playing behind lines in FPS, even when I'm medic in TF2 I'm in the front line !
I'm a bit also concerned with the interaction with EVE players, the capsuleers. They will probably not very happy to spend hard earned iskies, and skills (which can take months, for just a level.. yes, I'm thinking at you Advanced Spaceship Command V !) to develop starbases on planets, to see a bunch of n00bs who don't know what the EVE universe is, waging war next to their own player owned command centers ?
And most of all how the soverignity systems, required for the 0.0 battles will be affected ?
Oh btw, if you intend to be in a corporation, watchout your TS server. We got ours hacked several time during large scale battles to disrupt our communications. Metagaming is very common in EVE, I wonder what is going to happen with Dusters...
