DQX is not going to any non-Nintendo platform in the foreseeable future. Nintendo's got a publishing deal for the West going, no way SE would give that up.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Huh? I can't really understand what you're arguing for/against.
Tease.

The question you have to ask is: Given that Skyrim sold 5 millions or more, wouldnt bethesda choose to remake Morrowind on that same group of consoles? I think they would, its a garanteed sucess.
Now, a Vita port of the game might've been possible, but an exclusive isnt going to happen. Bethesda would have to be financially insane or make just a simple port of the Xbox version and not a remake.
LMAo at drama queens like the OP, vita doesn't need saving it's fine.

R&D for a proprietary format is expensive. Sony stated themselves that these memory cards were necessary to try and prevent piracy. This is obviously their main reason. Piracy killed the PSP in western markets. |
Yea, and the DS did well despite being even more easily piratable? PSP didn't do well in the western market because there wasn't a big focus on Western favoring titles. Gran Turismo was unfinished, early games were no different from PS2 games, and God of War was only one franchise (which sold well). That and Sony stopped developing games for their own system a full year before the PSV released. If it wasn't for CAPCOM making Monster Hunter games, and a decent JRPG backing, the PSP would have been a flop in comparision to other Playstation brand products.
The PS3 is largely hack proof and it doesn't have memory cards, PSV doesn't need it either. The main reason PSP was hackable was because GTA Liberty City Stories allowed downgrading your OS to an older hackable format. Without that single game, PSP's hack issues would have largely been stopped.
3DS is still hack-proof and doesn't have memory cards, PSV memory cards are a cash grab at those prices.

| Hyruken said: While I think the word "save" is a bit strong I do think they are some good points. But the main one is without a doubt the software. I have three games for my Vita, Fifa,Uncharted and Super Stardust. Fifa is pretty good. Uncharted is pretty good and Stardust is pretty good! However the rest of the games are pretty average at best from reviews. Of all the games that are out only Rayman appeals to me but not at it's current £30+ mark. Can get it for my consoles cheaper then that. But what concerns me is the games coming out. Ports and cash ins. No real IP's that are unique to the console let alone exclusive. If this is how games will be then it will be in deep shit because why would anyone pay £250 to play a port when they can get the real game and the orgional console for that much? I really hope Sony and third parties can make games purely for the vita that you can't find anywhere else. But another way they could make it appealing is if they make a "PS2" section on the network with classic ps2 games that are CHEAP. |
This I agree with. Nevermind about a ver wishful Dragon Quest port, what does PSV have planned for itself in the future? When the 3DS came out, Nintendo unveiled a boatload of games (Animal Crossing, Kid Icarus, Luigi's Mansion 2, Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7, Fire Emblem 3DS, Paper Mario, etc), plus some good third party support. The only big games Sony unveiled were Uncharted, Little Deviants (which isn't that good apparently), and ModNation Racers. What else does it have?
Sony needs to develop more games for their handhelds, one of the big reasons I never bought a PSP (probably will get one in the future, tired of borrowing one) is because of all the games I am interested, only two are Sony IP's (Gran Turismo and Reisistance)., and because after the last God of War, Sony ditched the PSP. Nintendo on the other hand, just announced a new major software title for the DS, despite the 3DS being over a year old now.

Simply put, PSVita is not a mass market product, so dont expect great sales........is the n64 situation again, few but quality games, bad advertising, already installed and more affordable rival.....

1. Yes DS was a success even though it is easy to pirate. But take a look at DS demographics. Casuals and Kids. The DS was a huge success so the 18-25 males doing the pirating didn't have much of an effect. PSP already had enough trouble competing with the DS and with their main demographic shown to be avid pirates, it had a huge impact on the system.
2. Kinda like how Nintendo did for the Wii and DS? In order to support a new system, you need to stop supporting the old one. This is business 101. Of course with the huge success of the DS and how 3DS has B/C, a few more Pokemon games are to be released for DS. There are a few exceptions.
3. Good thing digital distribution is optional, not mandatory. The entry level price for a Vita memory card is $20 for a 4gig which is more than enough for game saves.
Does it even need saving yet? Vita has no interesting games for Japanese folk, its incredibly Western oriented in its game library and the few games they made to appeal to Japanese gamers at launch are quite mediocre such as Lord of Apocalypse and Shinobido 2.
For us here the 3DS launch library was abysmal, but apparently Japan had titles like Layton and Gundam which we didn't get which would explain their adequate sales. Most Japanese consumers interested in a Vita I imagine are waiting for P4, Project Diva, DJ Max, FFX and a possible MH and SRW announcment come March 9th. So the whole Vita doom and gloom news is getting stale. Gravity Daze and Ragnarok Odyssey didn't sell in droves because Japan barely supports new IPs. Its gaming market revolves around buying the hell out of sequels and rehashes. While that can be directed to the Western market, we also heavily support new IPs if they're good. Just look at Demon's Souls, the Western market saved it and made them make Dark Soul's, not Japan.
As for saving it in the west, if it needs saving with such a strong focus on Western oriented games then all it needs is popular games such as CoD, Bioshock and Assassins Creed which it already supposedly has in the works. We'll only know its true fate come December this year. Your suggestions are good nonetheless.
| z101 said: Its seems obvious that a portable COD would be a massive success Obvious? No. COD games are for the big consoles not for handhelds. By the way: The DS got some CoD-Games. I think the 3DS will get some too. And the Vita will get a CoD-Game if the sales get better in US. The only things that would save the Vita are a much lower price of Hardware and games. And a bunch of good games. But none of that is beeing in sight. |
When will people understand that shitty dumbed down ports of CoD for previous gen handhelds cannot be compared to possibly nearly identical to PS3 version Vita CoD ?
