Forums - Sony - Receive Texts on PS Vita

apparently it only works on 3G models...

As of right now, I'm going to say as a 3G buyer who hasn't bothered to activate a data plan yet, the best reason for buying that model is for the included 8GB card.

While I don't doubt that there are future plans for the extended data service beyond constant Near updates, as of right now there really isn't much of a reason I can see for paying for another monthly data plan assuming one already has a data plan/smartphone.

But for an extra $20 over the price of a WiFi model and an 8GB card, that's nothing for a feature I'd like to have and not need than need and not have later.

You receive texts, but not send them, which doesn't make it all that worthwhile actually. But also, with receiving texts also comes receiving spam messages as GameTrailers proved not so long ago.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

Very cool feature that's for sure.

I don't think it was intended.

Really so a mistake? Yet a good mistake lol

Actually, I think AT&T put a stop to this already. I tried it a few days ago and received nothing. I triple checked the number too so it wasn't an error. Unless others are still using this oddity I think its gone. What AT&T should do is work on a text messaging app that would collect them in a better space than buried in the settings. I suppose they would have to figure out a way to only allow activated 3g vitas to receive them though.  It would be a nice incentive to having a datapass.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(
