Havok Physics and Animation coming to Wii U

Havok and Nintendo announced today that the Havok Physics and Havok Animation engines will be available for Wii U game developers. Not unexpected, but it’s nice to see more and more Wii U related announcements happening.

Read on.

Havok, a premier provider of interactive software solutions for the games and entertainment industry, announced today that it has entered into a worldwide license agreement with Nintendo Co., Ltd., to make Havok Physics and Havok Animation available to studios around the world developing on Nintendo’s Wii U platform. The agreement will give the development community access to the Havok technology to create high-fidelity, immersive games.

“We are very excited to be at the forefront of the new platform,” said David Coghlan, Managing Director of Havok. “We are honored to be providing Havok technology to Wii U developers in order to create great games in all genres. Gamers around the world expect high-fidelity realism and want to immerse themselves into new gaming experiences. This license agreement will give game developers everywhere easy access to Havok’s industry-leading technology. We are sure this license agreement will result in the creation of great interactive experiences for consumers on the Wii U platform!”

Wii U is a trademark of Nintendo.

This!

I guess they won't be changing the name! ^_^

It is really good to see this! I hope the Wii U can be the best Nintendo console to date. Might be a big wish but it can do it.

This was the second piece of information like this that I have heard today. Some other company that I posted in that other thread is working with Nintendo as well. I think they are really going to take care of customers and 3rd parties this time around! Exciting stuff!

Check out my destroyed thread page on page 58 of the official nintendo news thread. Dont know what happened there!

You didn't fix it... maybe Nintendo is destroying your news report because of secret info... Ryan! What did you do?!?!?!?! xD

The perfect price would be $349. You should've put that as an option.

@IamAwesome: you really should add 349 as a prizepoint!

I voted 299, but wouldn't be surprised if the prize turned out to be 349... 299 actually makes perfect sense: WiiU can't be too expansive since PS360 will be around 100-150 bucks...

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

Epic 1st post, I was too lazy to say so myself

I think it is not fair to fear the Wii U will be ignored once the PS4/X720 out power it. The Wii was ignored for many multiplataforms because the X360 was already out and settled the base-hardware for the generation, but the Wii U will be the first to launch to the market and will settle the base-hardware.

The PS2 settled the base hardware for its generation and it had just 4MB of VRAM(enough for more than 10 years !). I think the Wii U will be OK for the third party support since will be the first to launch.

uhh guess we won't get anything from GDC this year then -.-

the road to E3 will be long....
