Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Official Wii U Thread!: Pokemon Rubmle U coming to Wii U

What old franchise should Nintendo revive first on the Wii U?

Star Fox 220 47.31%

F-Zero 110 23.66%

Wave Race 29 6.24%

Top-Down Zelda 55 11.83%

Show me the results. 28 6.02%

Total:442

I would definitely buy a Metroid/Star Fox crossover, no matter how little sense it seems to make, Retro would make it work.

I hope this silly Metroid/Star Fox rumor is false. I love Metroid, I love Star Fox, but leave my Star Fox out of my Metroid and leave my Metroid out of my Star Fox! But if this is true I would still buy it, but I hope It's not, I'd much rather have Metroid Prime 4 or a new Star Fox game.

How big are the OS's for PS360? I'm not a techie, so I don't know what a 516mb OS means...

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

The Metroid and Star fox crossover doesn't make any sense - it's just a crazy rumour.

How would it mix? It's probably a reboot of either of the two.

You could reboot both of em' as a mix :)

How to mix it?

In terms of story: Andross teams up with space pirates to control metroids and conquer the galaxy. Samus and Starfox team are both bouty hunters right? They both get hired by the galactic federation to save the galaxy.

In terms of gameplay: Samus could be dedicated to ground-based TPS missions while Fox takes care of areal missions.

Or, even better, let's assume the game is going to be made for multiplayer co-op, one player could use the wiimote on the TV screen, while the other player could use the tablet. The differences between control methods could stand out the differences between the characters (fox and samus) and their specific abilities. It could be a great way to display the concept of asimmetrcal gameplay.

It's styles are completly different - one has real/alien-like persons and one has (cute) animals as persons. You can't mix that in any convincing way. And any multiplayer can more or less be found in Smach Bros.

Both franchises need great reboots but not in one game.

Starfox is far too cartooney to mix it with metroid's realistic view. Even is a big universe, it would feel to out of place.

And even in star wars, the whole ewok thing was a unnecessary addition to the saga. It had the grand scope to absorb it, but overal those scenes were a downer in the final film.

Bgassassin on Gaf has said that the game from Retro is a new IP and aimed at the PS360 crowd. The Metroid - Star Fox crossover title was probably an idea that ended up on the cutting room floor so to speak. It makes absolutely no sense to have big hairy space marines, bounty hunters, pirates and Samus Aran in her bloody great big suit in the same game as furry, feathered and amphibian earth creatures that are walking, talking and flying in space ships from a pure design standpoint.

Retro will be working on an FPS or TPS game aimed at the hardcore demographic.

Not sure how I feel about the new controller, I really like the slide pad on the 3DS and the old design of the DRC had extra grips on them. I guess it may have been down to either Nintendo adding clickable functionality to them or feedback/requests from developers. The button placement seems a great deal better though.
