Forums - Gaming Discussion - Microsoft Promises Biggest Year yet for Xbox 360 - Accidentally Reveals Fable Heroes XBLA

"It's all about quality; it's never been a game of quantity versus quality."

"First party's role is to really be pioneers," he says -- to "really be a showcase for what the platform's capabilities are."

"That's the way we look at it," he says: "showcases for what the platform's capable of."

Answers to the top three quotes then I'll go back to my party chat:

1. Quantity was what you were going for, but failed to deliver ever since the first Xbox. Stay in the safe zone where you belong.
2. You've pioneered nothing but online. Online was inevitable for consoles and MS was the only one who could do it properly. In fact it was planned since the genesis days.
3. So basically a poor mans PC experience is what you want to show off, rather than something that shows off the 360? There is no exclusive that does this outside of Forza 4. The only graphical marvels the 360 has are already on PC where they natively show off their power. Come on Microsoft, show that you're a gaming company and not just a typical publisher.

You can have both you know.....I suggest taking a look at the PS3 exclusives line-up for 2011. If Sony who is losing tons of money can put out so many high quality games, why can't Microsoft?

this is the pure reason i dont have a 360 anymore, im not a fan of Halo or Gears so there is nothing left. i dont care about Kinect (its  cool, its just not for me). apart from Halo 4 they dont have mush else. im sure they will add a ton of Kinect titles and TV streaming chanels.. just what original 360 owners wanted.

i do fear that MS might go the 'wii' way next gen, focus more on the 'Casual' croud and leave the 'Hardcore' gamer out. after all i have brought both systems and il likely buy the next xbox.. unless this is what they do.

so in summery, i think he is only talking about sales of the system.

i played Gears3 at my mates house and i was shocked, it looked nothing like i thought. Graphically it was good, but nothing amazing.

i know people will be thinking 'oh a playstation fan trolling in this thread blah blah blah' but no, im just trying to have a conversation. not trying to start anything or annoy anyone.

I think you are missing how actually fun and versatile Kinect makes the X360. Yes it can be for 'oh the floor is lava’ - and actually show you that on the screen silly party fun, and learn to dance, exercise, fight those kind of things. There is nothing wrong with those gamers and casuals that enjoy them.

Plus - You can speak to it! You can tell it to look stuff up - I forgot how nice this is till I was at a friends and they had me look up a movie on their roku - typing in a name with a remote :'( It's more fun to say, "Xbox Lord of the Rings" and it shows you where you can find it. A couch potatoes dream.

Then when you are done, you can grab a controller and you have a hard core HD game machine and go fight dragons, war heroes, and such in beautiful fidelity and 5.1 sound.

The Xbox 360 is very well placed as both a causal and a hardcore machine. It’s versatility is an asset.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

finally your true face.

I read through the thread and you really came up with a lot of nonsense. MS losing money with first party studios? They reported a gigantic profit in a time they opened 3 studios and bought Twisted Pixel.

The 360 library is the most diverse of all three IMO. A lot of core titles from 1st and 3rd party, a lot of casual titles from 1st and 3rd party (some of them for Kinect, some of them with regular controls). Plus the greatest lineup ever on XBLA and Fable Heroes will prove it again, just like Alan Wake, Haunt and Crimson Dragon will.

The funny part is that you were talking about core titles at first, before you switched to "variety". In a year with games like Steel Battalion, The Witcher 2, Halo 4, Fable, Crimson Dragon, Alan Wake, Ryse, Star Wars Kinect, Kinect Rush etc etc all exclusives, your logic makes zero sense for both scenarios. Add all the multiplats like GTA V, Max Payne, CoD, Mass Effect 3, Ghost Recon Future Soldier, Resident Evil, Bioshock Infinite, Borderlands 2, Street Fighter x Tekken, Silent Hill etc. and you have barely time to play all these titles.

Why do quite a few PS3 fans fail to understand that the Xbox 360 is just doing fine for the past years. I don't get why people like you (or VG King) are desperately searching for something to prove that the PS3 is superior. Who do you guys want to convince anyway?

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

SDF been going strong these days on VGC, i dont know what they want to prove, if the lack of Ps3 good games in 2012 or the lack of a decent online that they can play all days without get bored... IF they had that online like Xbox Live they wouldnt be here bothering others... Make it happen Sony.

What i really hate is those ps-fans (you know who you are) coming in every 360 exclusives thread with always the same bullshit, resulting in a derailed thread. Can't you just stay out...

I think. The Xbox brand is in a very critical stage of its life. having the choice of focusing on the kinect and become like the "Wii" or focusing on hardcore and continue to charge the PS brand head on. If MS chooses one of these ways as its permanent plan, there is no way in hell that they can win next gen. However, if they balanced the "Casual" and the "core", while not being afaraid to invest heavily on both of them.  I can almost gurantee you  that they would dominate next gen in terms of sales and audience size.

MS has all it needs, a successful casual device (Kinect) and HUGELY successful core exclusive titles. The only way that MS can expand is to make more of both. However, as we have seen recenly, MS is only focusing on kinect. Which quite bothers me.... (not including XBLA exclusives ofcource)

In my oppinion.

Yay!!!
