Well it's rumored to have a new HiDPI screen. iPad 1/2 screen was 1024x768 resolution. The new one is supposed to be 2048x1536 effectively doubling the resolution and making things much more sharper, like text, etc.

Besides that stuff like faster CPU/GPU, better camera,etc. These are still rumors of course although prototype screens have gotten out.

Resolution is pretty damn important.  A lot of old timers (like my parents) use terrible resolution on their computer screens (I assume because they like bigger text and maybe easier on their eyes) but I love pumping my screen resolution almost to the max.  Sometimes I pump it up too much where the text is just too small so I gotta back up a little.   

I'm surprised you didn't check out for any rumors of a new iPad especially since they launched the iPad 2 last year in March. I just sold my iPad 1 last week in anticipation of the new iPad. Some stores have started discounting the ipad 2 a little, eg $50 off at Best Buy in the run-up to the new iPad. The iPad 2 is a good device as I've used my gf's iPad 2 a bit since I got it for her early/mid last year.

macrumors.com is a good site for apple related news. Other sites have also talked about new iPad rumors as well though like Engadget and Ars Technica. Ifixit also took a look at the rumored display panel.

And in other more interesting news Black ops 2 launches this november and the sun rises tomorrow.

Well in this case it's more about making everything sharper as the display should be the same physical size. For example, take a look at an iPhone 3g/3GS screen and then look at an iPhone 4/4s screen and you can see everything is much sharper and clearer on the 4/4s screen which has double the resolution of the 3G/3GS screen.

This is the equivalent of the iPad getting a "retina"-like display like the iPhone 4 did.

*sigh* Really? The iPad 4 will be released March 2013. The one after that March 2014. iPad 6 will be release March 2015. Same goes for iPhones (one per year. That's how almost all companies in the mobile phone business release their products: One per year) and iPods. Just the Mac line doesn't have a fixed releae schedule because Apple puts out new Macs whenever a new chipset arrives. The next wave of Macs should come in April-June with Ivy Bridge CPU's.

OT: I'm really looking forward to it and I guess I'm gonna get one. These things are great for university and photos will looks amazing on the "beyond HD" screen. I also can't wait for everyone else to tell me that you don't need high screen resolution and "you can view PDF's on a Kindle, too"
