Forums - Microsoft - 'Leaked' Halo 4 video with release date is fake according to Microsoft

Examiner

Halo 4 will likely be one of the hottest games of the Fall. This of course means that some chicanery will pop up regarding the Xbox 360 shooter. The latest is a slightly trippy video with a supposed release date of November 21, 2012. Don't get too excited though as Microsoft calls it a fake.

We reached out to Microsoft concerning the video and was told that "the video in question is not legitimate" by a company representative.

"This video is a fake and we have not yet announced the launch date for Halo 4," Microsoft's official statement reads. "Please stay tuned for more information."

So is it for sure fake? Well, the most basic of sleuthing says that it's almost guaranteed to be a fake date. November 21, 2012 falls on a  Wednesday. Game releases typically arrive on Tuesday with the odd release on a Friday or Sunday. We can't recall a release date falling on a Wednesday before.

The wait for official information from Microsoft shouldn't be long as the Spring Showcase is scheduled for February 29 where details of Halo 4 are expected to be announced.

You can see the video in question in our video gallery.

also what's so special about November 20th that every "Big" game is releasing at and around it ? 20th of Nov is my birthday, and its creepy, is it close to black friday?

The reason we haven't "heard anything" about it is because M$ is keeping the game underwraps until E3, because it's going to be one of only a few big reveals at their show. And that Nov 20th date is waaay off, no way M$ waits that long to release its biggest game, Most likely it'll come in late September, that's been their big Halo month this gen (3, ODST and Reach all released in Sept.)

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.
