Why do you say 'even nintendo' like you're talking to a bunch of Nintendo kids in here?

Of course corporations lie, but this is stupidity lying and that's not because i'm biased. Lying directly to someones face when they KNOW that you ARE lying (which is what Sony just did to enthusiasts) pisses people off.

It's just bad publicity for themselves and there was no need for them to 'excuse' themselves like that.

I said that because a ton of people think Nintendo doesnt lie... and are a "good" almost christian company... trust me... this arguement was on the official Nini forums... nini was made out to be ran by Jesus...

I don't think that people think that at all, it is expected that companies will lie to keep SECRETS SECRET.  Nintendo as a whole is a much more ethical company now than it used to be, and that's the good and honest truth.  It's what comes from having someone like Iwata (and Miyamoto some) at the reins, they are both very humble, honest and respectful people.

Nintendo's troubled period came from the arrogance and disrespect from Yamauchi, who - without Nintendo would be finished [tidbit1]Yamauchi came up with the core idea concept for the DS[/tidbit1]

During these times Nintendo did a lot of unethical and 'underhanded' things while they were in so much power from the SNES, a type of company resembling to me the current Sony with Katarugi at the reins.

People don't think that Nintendo are un-touchable and a 'great' company because they are that... it's because they are more 'good' than their two competitors.  Microsoft and Sony.  Is that fair?

technically anything that doesn't have 100% availability is "supply constrained"

Well, its one thing to have a couple of stores with no units. It doesn't matter if you can walk 5min to another store in the same mall and still pick one up. The Wii is the opposite - its rare to find *any* stores that actually have units still there (although finally less rare at the moment :>).

I can't imagine anyone out there who wants to buy a PS3 - but can't find a store that stocks one.

Why stand up for them? Does it not piss you off that they LIED TO YOUR FACE? Or is that not a problem for you?

*whats the bet my question gets ignored*

Why do people get so outraged by something so minor? It's not like Sony is grinding up the elderly and feeding them to the public, or burning puppies to power their HQ. Yes it was a dumb PR move done in an attempt to justify their third place position. Big deal.

Come on, to call them supply constrained is an out and out lie. I've been to at least a dozen stores in march, including the Sony store in Manhattan, and they all not only had ps3s but an insane amount of them. My local Costco has at least 50 of them next to a giant pile of x360s. You can't tell me that somewhere in texas they sold out and people are marching in the streets damanding more when every store I go to in Jersey and New York has more then a dozen in stock.(and yes I ask the question everywhere I go, how many ps3s how many wiis, and they never have Wiis.)

And Kwaad you like to quote itrackr.com all the time for the Wii, yet I notice you don't mention the 93% availability of the ps3. Even if there was a store out of stock of the ps3, there is no way there isn't another store within 5 miles of that one that doesn't have one. Meaning that every single person that wanted a ps3 in March got one.

Secondly Kwaad what is the point of Sony saying they are constrained if they are not selling out in the stores? If the stores aren't selling out, the stores aren't demanding more, therefore there is no rush in getting them out, and if they are self inflicting this constraint then you can accuse them of what everyone accused MS of doing shipping excess systems to boost the shipment numbers.

Honestly I don't see why they had to go on about this bogus ordeal I think they should be more honest yet positive. They could have easily boasted ps2 numbers, psp numbers, and exclaimed ps2 has done well because of great response to the god of war franchise, ps3s numbers are low only because some the franchises Sony fans hold so dear had to be delayed to ensure the best possible quality at launch, we're sure system sales will reflect this in the coming months.

Otherwise no one is going to believe their silly excuses.
