That's very, very difficult. Greece has no value, money or resources to back up the currency. No one in the world believes that it's goverment is worth anything. Those people are the problem in the first place.
Even if they go back to the Drachma, it would be lot cheaper then the euro, which means their debt will multiply (probably by a lot)!
The fact is the only thing of value greece has left, is their membership of the euro-zone.
In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

What would you do if you had your salary cut by 40% while the parliament earns 8,000€ + benefits + huge pension? And with no solution on the horizon?

I felt the same way, but then I actually looked at the austerity measures and realised that this is ridiculous and people are right to protest

there's nothing left because of the euro, they need to default and go back to the drachma so they can start making a real economy based on real means. Propping up Greece is pointless, it just brings the other countries down. Greece never should have been in the Euro in the first place. They will not allow Greece to leave though because they know a default in Greece will activate the mortgage backed securities.

Who said 40%? It OP said it was just 20%. And minimum wages aren't a good thing anyways.
As for the parliament, 8,000 Euros per what? If that's per year that's really measly. If that's per month then that's way more than they should be getting.

What's so bad about them? Just from the OP I'm not seeing anything unreasonable.
The poor Greeks. No matter how this went, they would be in a world of pain. Here's hoping the inevitable hard times are short lived.

40-50% in public sector and pensions via earlier votings. 20-30% (30% for those aged 25-) in the private sector IN GENERAL. Not just the minimum wages!
Also via previous votings, 4% increase in VAT, estate tax (about 150€ every two months for an average Greek house), 100% tax increase in gas, and MANY taxes to an already overtaxed country! Not to mention that in the text, the Economy Minister is given authority to bypass the parliament and put forth new measures, no matter the government!
Don't be fooled by the rioters attacking the police, it has been proven many times that it's inside job from the police so that they can start throwing gas and stop the peaceful protests. Yesterday for example, tons of toxic gas were released on peaceful public, amongst them elderly and children!!! Wake up, Europe, we have dictatorship over here! They're killing us!

Ouch those are some rough changes! It's too bad it got to the point where this is the only option. The reckless debt spending they enjoyed the last several years finally caught up to them.
