I walked up to it, picked it up and then I turned 360 degrees and walked away.

Hm so you liked it so much you didn't even put it back down!

It's an old joke about someone doing the same to the Xbox 360.

Blast, it went over my head.

Back on topic: I love the little game cartridges, they are so small and similar to memory cards that it should be easier to maintain backwards compatibility in future consoles. It would be awesome if we could plug these things into the PS4 and play them.

3DS got an analog slider (two if you count the circle pad pro), spot pass/street pass, Netflix, AR Games, Motion controls, 3D graphics, video recording, a pedometer, and a bunch of minor tweaks (message/notification sytem, activity log, nintendo zone, Nintendo video).

Look guy, you can call me a troll or whatever you like.  You have my permission.  YOUR response was close minded and provoked the response.  Don't think you can just make bullshit remarks and not get called out.  You carry the name "writer" under your avatar.  To a degree, you represent the staff on this site.  I've watched you for a while, Runa and..... I'll just stop there.

Do some research, writer.

*for the record, my 3G PSVita sits side by side with my 3DS.  If you say it, be ready to back it up*

1 - I mentioned the analog slider, and the second one does not count since it was a post-release addition.
2 - Netflix isn't hardware, and every console has that now.
3 - AR games is software. Does not count
4 - I forgot about motion controls, I'll give you that.
5 - all that junk is software, not hardware.  in that case, PSVita has near, maps, welcome park, its own set of AR games, etc

The only thing I missed was the motion control, I accept my fumble there, the rest is just you and mr pokemon brawl trying your best to make the 3DS sound better than it is.  What you fail to understand is that I actually really, really like the 3DS, but as a piece of hardware it's inferior to the Vita. I fully plan to support both handhelds for the years to come, but the Vita is a much more impressive handheld.  Time and software will tell quality in the long run, but Vita had a hell of a better launch, and is by far the superior hardware.

Have I said 'hardware' enough to make it clear what I'm discussing here?  (hint: it's hardware, not software.)  Like how you mentioned being able to download games on the PSV?  (Hint, that's not a hardware benefit, either).

We can discuss, debate, and argue until we're blue in the face about software (which could be fun since both systems have awesome games and there's great arguments on both sides of the spectrum), but that's now what this is about.  this is a thread about Vita, impressions, and opinions. Vita is more impressive and a bigger leap in technology than the 3DS was.  (although both suffer from 'more of the same' syndrome in the eyes of the public at large, sadly.)

We won't debate.  I'm done here.  I posted my impressions.  If you'll look back, maybe a couple of posts below yours, you'll see that I praised the Vita as being on another level.  It's awesome.  You don't have to be impartial.  You're free to voice your opinion.  Just don't throw flames.  You're a writer for VGChartz, for goodness sake.  How about some professionalism?

Here's what I wrote: "As for my impressions: A VERY solid and capable system. The screen looks much better and sharper in my house than it did on the store display. Crazy thing--the same could be said for the 3DS. Something about those store display consoles that makes the system look worse than it really is. The system feels very sturdy. It oozes power.

I'm probably one of the biggest 3DS advocates you're going to find. I love that console. In just a couple of short hours, the PSV made that console seem under-powered. Welcome Park showed off a lot of the finer features of the Vita and I like it a lot. I'll have to wait until tomorrow to see what the system can REALLY do. It's downloading all of my PSP games from the PS3 to the PSV, right now. After I finish doing that, I'm just going to shut it down for the day. Haven't even given Uncharted a try, yet.

I've owned around 6 Nintendo DS's (one I bought for my kid) since it launched. When I got a PSP, it just seemed like a better fit for me. I really enjoyed both systems, but the PSP was just more of what I wanted a portable system to be. I already own a 3DS and my kid owns one, too. We love it. Hundreds upon hundreds of hours have been spent with it over the past year (didn't get mine until late June, though). I've only spent a couple of hours with the Vita and I can already see that the hardware is on another level. Now, if only there was a fucking game worth playing on it.

I do not regret the purchase one bit. It's an awesome piece of hardware, so far."

Love it. The user interface has really impressed me, when I saw the screens of the of the interface I wasn't that fond of it, but after using it I think it's brilliant. The screen is gorgeous, been playing Uncharted: Golden Abyss and I've stopped to admire the beauty of it numerous times. Money well spent!

REALLY big and lightweight. Then it surprised me even more that it can fit in my pocket without crushing it. Of course I put it in a sleeve also so it doesn't scratch. It's all very sleek and well designed.

P.S. Why do Nintendo fans feel the need to come in and compare the Vita to the 3ds? Hardware wise come on, the PS Vita has much better hardware. The thing that will truly distinguish the two platforms for us gamers is the software and I'm sure in the years to come, both will be heavily supported.

Also, if you call the Vita just another PSP, by that same token I could call the 3DS just another DS. Which it's not. So stop being so blatantly biased. It doesn't matter if you own both. The Vita is a massive upgrade to the PSP.

Somebody (I won't name names) DID call the 3DS just another DS (which it's not).  That's what prompted the response.  I'll leave the thread.  I just don't see how I'm the bad guy here.  I prefer the PSP to the DS and, witht the right software, I'll likely prefer the PSV to the 3DS.  I just saw somebody making a comment that I didn't agree with and felt was factually inaccurate.  I responded by rearranging their words in an attept to show how wrong the statement was.  In return, my statement was "aggressively unintelligent" and "not smart".  Anyway, you guys have fun.

Sorry, I read all the responses more thoroughly and discovered that was the case. So I edited my post lol. I just saw some kind of debate going on at the previous page so I assumed there was a lot of tension going on between Nintendo and Sony fans.

EDIT: When I said read, I meant I read them before you responded =P

Yeah its a shame that same "Somebody" (who d21lewis is refering to) derailed  the thread like that.

I have decided to leave this thread too. It's a shame that an honest person can't let his impressions go on without someone saying I'm Nintendo fanboy who just wants the Vita to fail. I don't want the Vita to fail in anyway and my impressions were truthful.

I don't see the beauty of the screen and I don't like the buttons, that's all I have ever said. The other input I have said was that I prefer the 3DS' screen more and the graphics of the Vita were on par with Resident Evil: Revelations, which is in fact one of the best looking game on a handheld.

Is the Vita more powerful than the 3DS? Yes. Is the launch better? Yes. I agree, but I don't prefer them as a major point over the 3DS. Each system has it's ups and downs. If you don't like my impressions(and opinions), then oh well.

oh for fuck's sake, I didn't say it was another DS, I said it seemed that way in the public eye and that, hardware wise, it wasn't that different.  I love how some people can take what's said out of context to establish a strawman.  Hell, most of the time I ARGUE With people because they're dumb enough to think that the 3DS is just another DS model, and I hate it when people act like it's not worth buying just becuase it's too similar.  you know what I do when people say something like that? "Well the SNES was just a more powerful NES with a few extra buttons".  Not only have you misunderstood what I was trying to say, but you managed to twist my words in such a way that you've tried to make me look like the very person I find frustrating.

Holy crap, dude, agenda much?

Both systems are great, why does this need to be a flame war?  Not my fault you took my words and twisted them so you had an argument.

Yo, I already editted my post. It was my mistake. Your impressions are fine. I just thought there was something bigger going on.
