not kidding you my local walmarts stations have been either removed since 2009 and or rrod'd -360
and gamestop is a new store , just opened recently fairly small in size not much room for all those display thingys this is a small town , well compared to palmbeach ,. also the walmart took theirs down due to breaking down and kids abusing the guitars in the 360 demo casing also the 360 it self was rrod'd not much i need to explain , so no im not kidding you we didnt even get a midnight launch in idaho gamestop . walmart obviously has theirs at midnight all the time but again i went in there today and not one person was even bothering with the vita 's and they again like the psp situation they only had very little vita games they did not even get todays releases at all ,
this walmart is notorious for that like for instance i go looking for ps3 version or ds version of bloodstone neither copy was available yet they had the 360 version for the longest time and they got driver renegade 4 weeks late
thus why i use gamestop almost more then often ,
point is if you want to demo somthing over here youll need to drive 60 miles plus away to the bigger cities (twin falls or boise)
and now since i got my vita my first impressions well heres the pros and cons
pros-
dual analog
nice cameras and screen
slightly better visuals then the nintendo 3ds but its not noticable by much when i compared asphalt 3d to ignition , uh uh sorry ubi that was a fail ,
video cameras
some decent games-asphalt uncharted modnation racers
cons
-4 hour -5 hour battery life-thats a given though i had not let the battery die yet i watched a youtube video using the same game im playing and it cut off 30 minutes shy of 5 hours
the placment of the x and the 2nd analog ---too close when i was playing asphalt i had a hard time because the joystick was always getting pressed so i use the r button in that case from now on also the small buttons -start select- those always annoyed me on the psp i just hope these aint gonna do what the psp did - i had un responsive buttons on psp 1000 quite a few times , i just wish these two buttons in particular wasn't so small
menu navigation- why do i have to use the touch screen with buttons present , - thats a con i hope they fix via a update
again on the screen um smudges smears -- ya just like my dart/mytouch phones. i just hate that constantly wiping it down also when i first got mine it was dusty as heck litterally like the company did not insulate the boxes
not related to the system but the packaging , and printed material --- you mean to tell me they took 5 sheets of charmin ultrasoft ? thats became the norm , i bought sims 3 pets and forza 4 last xmas , omg . i pulled out this small instruction manual 4 pages long , well the vitas is 8 pages but ugh . and then theres the normal manual - why did they include 2 manuals 1 was enough . ill take that toilet paper one and shred it .
and when we get into the games them selfs -nice cases small , slim but wheres the instructions why am i paying 30-50 bucks without an instruction manual they should deduct 5 bucks at least for every vita game cause they dont use paper
that later is my main concern
but overall pretty solid in deed does need software . after going through the list today not many of those interisted me asphalt and modnation and uc were the only ones. i thought i would get ridge racer but ---- you tell me is 3 tracks and 5 cars worth it ?
yeah, it's kind of a shame the Vita sells for what it does, because it means the 3DS is gonna pummel it....in spite of it being worth the price.
And I hate the 3D...I turn it off as often as I can, so pretty much all the time. I just think it's a stupid gimmick. the system is good, but the gimmick they're relying on is just silly and kinda dumb. It was rather brash of nintendo to jump on the 3D bandwagon before letting it settle in. after Avatar, EVERYTHING went 3D...then people got sick of it quickly and now I don't know anyone who actually cares about it as anything more than "that stupid thing that makes movies cost so much."

Since I haven't played my 3DS much lately, I had a hard time playing the Snake Eater demo in 3D so I kept switching it on and off. It looked great in 3D but it's not really something that I'm looking for in my games.

I don't know anyone who plays with the 3D, in fact I've heard more people say "I don't like the 3D so I'm not going to get it" than "Vita is too expensive, I am not going to get that."
It's just a DSi, function wise. its primary selling point is a deterrent.

The Vita is just a PSP, function wise. Its primary selling point is a deterrent. Seriously, how can you say the things you say, some times?
My impressions:
1. Holy shit this screen is big
2. Wow it feels lot more solid than my psp 3004
3. Wow those colours on screen...
4. WTF i can't accept anything in menu
5. Oh right I'm supposed to use touch screen now

After completing uncharted twice with the sticks, they are amazing but initially I found them stiff they just needed a good game or two to get them loosened out.
OT: wow just play rayman origins and look at the vita screen....perfection!
d21lewis said: As for my impressions: A VERY solid and capable system. The screen looks much better and sharper in my house than it did on the store display. Crazy thing--the same could be said for the 3DS. Something about those store display consoles that makes the system look worse than it really is. The system feels very sturdy. It oozes power. I'm probably one of the biggest 3DS advocates you're going to find. I love that console. In just a couple of short hours, the PSV made that console seem under-powered. Welcome Park showed off a lot of the finer features of the Vita and I like it a lot. I'll have to wait until tomorrow to see what the system can REALLY do. It's downloading all of my PSP games from the PS3 to the PSV, right now. After I finish doing that, I'm just going to shut it down for the day. Haven't even given Uncharted a try, yet. I've owned around 6 Nintendo DS's (one I bought for my kid) since it launched. When I got a PSP, it just seemed like a better fit for me. I really enjoyed both systems, but the PSP was just more of what I wanted a portable system to be. I already own a 3DS and my kid owns one, too. We love it. Hundreds upon hundreds of hours have been spent with it over the past year (didn't get mine until late June, though). I've only spent a couple of hours with the Vita and I can already see that the hardware is on another level. Now, if only there was a fucking game worth playing on it. I do not regret the purchase one bit. It's an awesome piece of hardware, so far. |
As a blind guess, I'd blame those pesky fluorescent tubes they use in stores, and, alas, schools and offices, and that common people just use in cellars and garages.
$36 worth of DLC for Marvel vs. Capcom 3, eh? To think, I almost picked that game as my launch title of choice. It will stay right there on the shelf along with the console version for the same reason. By trying to rape the consumer, you're costing yourself a sale.
Of course, two of my last game purchases were Azura's Wrath and Resident Evil Revelations.
