lol...yes that is exactly why google bought Motorola. So that they could go after Nokia, and maybe HTC and Samsung for making windows phones.

'Nokia is using Windows phone and not Android, so we sue them for this radio frequency patent. If they switch to Android we will drop the lawsuit.'

If Nokia is abusing googorola's patents then they can and will sue for royalties as msft has been doing this for a long time now. Keep in mind that the judges will not be fanboys. This could be used to put pressure on Nokia and anybody else to move from wp7 or at least make the usage of it less profitable.

This sounds like a wishful thinking of a closet Google admirer to me. Keep dreaming...

Well, just about every article concerning the acquisition views this as a positive thing for goog's patent defense efforts, disolitude. But I'm the one that needs to get in touch with reality? Whatever.

I thought the consensus perception was that Motorola was looking for a buyout, and used the threat of suing other Android OEMs (hence torching the Android ecosystem) as leverage to negotiate an awesome selling price way beyond their actual worth.  Google isn't really being sued, and Motorola's patents can already defend Motorola without being owned by Google.  The only effect I've seen is that Google sold/donated a handful of minor patents to HTC -- this doesn't seem to have done them any good.

Nokia was also an intellectual leader of telecom.  Notice that Apple settled with them last year (and is now paying royalties to Nokia), but they continue to fight Motorola aggressively in courts across the world.  It leads me to speculate that Nokia's patent war chest my be considerably stronger than Moto's.

Why would nokia's be stronger? Nokia doesn't even do nearly as much R&D as the rest bc they have for a long time now, concentrated on the low end market. I know that Motorola has invented lean six sigma, which is a huge huge thing now.

Everything Ive read stated this move is positive for Google against Apple and completely useless against Microsoft as Motorola doesn't own any OS related patents they can target Microsoft with.  Sure they can go after OEMs if they infringe on Motorola radio patents, but Nokia has as much patents as Motorola in that field.

Thats the best Google can hope for with Motorola. Stop apple or get them to cross license. If they want to counter Microsoft they have to change Android and stop borowing patents they don't own.

His posts tend to be based on partial news stories he may have read mixed with half wishful thinking. I've never seen a shred of proof or a valid source link in anything he ever posted. So yeah, I wouldn't go any further with this argument...
