Yes. Do you really expect him to say "yeah we're gonna reveal it soon"? That would be revealing it.
Anyone would of done this.

So much for Sony adopting a new strategy to make the company profitable.
OT:
Sony is the one I'd expect to "announce" their next-gen console latest, I'd say Microsoft at GDC/E3 this year, and Sony possibly at TGS later in the year.
i think sony's top priority is to release their next console near the same time as microsoft. if they were to release at the same time, the next xbox may never get a chance to get ahead.

Like I said in another topic, delaying even further the release of a console, be it the PS4 or the X720, would be like delaying a pit stop on F1, or Nascar or Indy to you, my Master Chief avatar friends: even though your times seem OK, the more you strech your stint, the bigger the chances you end up eating dust in the end.
It's basic market strategy that Nintendo knew with the 3DS, Sony knew with the PS2, every electronics company with half a brain knows and that's why they release early upgrades (It's not only Apple you know) to their products no matter the sales.
We've also heard of the PS3 at e3 2005 so this could very well be true. But I guess an Xbox 3 in 2012 is more likely than a PS4 this year. Sony will most likely go the route of "be the last, be the most powerful" again... this time actually being more powerful than the competition since there's no hundreds of dollars cost for a Blu-Ray player in their machine.
I'd be all for it. Bring on the next generation, guys
