You are moving the goalposts again. Read the bolded sentence. As soon as you were called out on it, you changed the argument to the Just Dance crowd again.

The JD crowd are the majority of the WIi owners. SO my statement, now if you dont believe that to be the case and have some kind of evidence to prove otherwise id be happy to see it. Otherwise I will just assume you are in denial and we can end this

You have never provided any proof that the Just Dance crowd accounts for the majority of Wii owners. This is especially ridiculous, because prior to late 2009 Just Dance didn't even exist. The majority of Wiis were sold before Just Dance even went on sale.

You make one baseless claim after another and never even try to back anything up.

Ill say WiiSports crowd if you want me to, or hell even the casual. Your mother, grandmother, aunties, the non traditional gamers account for the vast majority of WIi owners. People bought Wiis to play WiiSports, WiiFit and the like. The numbers are right there. Its funny because you have yet to back up your argument saying that these people DONT make up the majority, you cant because you know they do

Forgive me, I have fallen for your moving of the goalposts. What I meant to say was:

First you need to prove that Wii owners don't care enough to justify development for the console.

...because my previous post was this:

Is it really so hard to say that the lack of quality third party games wasn't the fault of Wii owners?

You sneaked in "the majority" and I fell for it. I am usually not as sloppy as this. But the Wii Sports players are just that, a part of the audience. There were also ten million copies of Super Mario Galaxy and SSBB sold which is more than any PS3 exclusive game. Like you say, the numbers are right there. So let's start this over, this time without you putting in additional qualifiers.

Is it really so hard to say that the lack of quality third party games wasn't the fault of Wii owners?

So you really dont understand the concept of different audiences? My aunt who plays WiiSPorts will never play a COD and my dudebro friends play COD will never play WiiFit and the like and so on.  YOu wanna cherry pick Super Mario games, because you know that the same audience that will buy the CODs and Mario games have NEVER sold that well on any other Ninty system. BUt ignore the SW force unleashed, Need4Speeds, Prince of Persias, Fifas, Maddens, WWEs, Raymans, Spider-mans. Tomb Raider, actual multiplat games.

But hey if you truly believe that Wii owners are some massive hive mind and they all like the same thing, then go right ahead. But at least show some evidence, no Mario is not evidence he sells well on all Ninty platforms

The bottom line is that you keep moving the goalposts and avoid addressing points directly.

Is it really so hard to say that the lack of quality third party games wasn't the fault of Wii owners? Apparently yes.

And is it really hard to admit that the majority of Wii owners simply dont care about those type of games for WIi?? No it isnt the fault of WIi owners I never said that, Wii owners dont care so why would I blame them??

First you need to prove that the majority of Wii owners don't care enough to justify development for the console. Otherwise it's a baseless claim.

Look at the sales of the multiplat games, for a system that sells so much better than the competition why is it that only the dance and exercise and more family friendly affair does better?? And dont give me that the "wii versions always suck" cause even when that isnt the case, it still falls far behind the HD versions. I have numbers to back up my claim, can you back up that the JD crowd care about these core games?? Not saying they shouldnt put a good FPS or whatever on WIi, but I dont know why some are shocked your not seeing as much as the other consoles

When has a Wii version of a third party game NOT sucked compared to the HD consoles? Seriously, give me ONE game that third parties poured more time and effort into on the Wii version and I will retract my statement.

Consumers shift towards the superior versions of games, that should be common sense. And third parties have ALWAYS made superior versions of games on the HD consoles. They usually just throw shitty ports on the Wii and use it as a dumping ground for crappy games they rush out in an effort to make a quick buck from the large (and supposively gullible) Wii audience, then they whine about how the snooty Nintendo gamers don't buy their shitty games. Bullshit! Try actually making some GOOD games, and maybe some Wii owners will buy them. These companies will get no sympathy from me, at least until they make a game equal  to the quality of Skyrim or Batman Arkham City on the Wii. I am proud of Wii gamers for not buying the garbage they try to pass off as "games" for the Wii. Of course,  there are a few rare exceptions, but usually those rare excepctions have sold well.

At the end of the day, they get what they deserve. Garbage in, garbage out.. Wii has the worst third party support easily, thus it gets poor third party sales. Nothing surprising here. And yet somehow, STILL Wii has by far the most software sales. These companies should be kissing the ground Wii gamers walk on, considering the high software sales some of their games recieve for their utter crap.

Lifetime shipments

PS3 - 568m
Wii - 805m

PS3 sold 14m more games than Wii last Q. For 2011 Sony shipped 160m games up 13m YOY, Wii shipped 110m games~ down 75m YOY.

Lifetime I wonder how close they can come to each other, Wii is getting less and less SW.

Wii is definitely an interesting study when it comes to its million selling games. Yep, the PS3 overtook it this year (and will hold that lead) when it comes to the overall amount of million sellers (congrats to the PS3 for that), but when it came to looking at the Wii and it's list of million selling games, the big question was never really "how many million sellers can it get?" (although it's still an important and legitimate question) but rather "how high can these million sellers go?".

We've never seen a console with games that put up these kinds of numbers. Wii is about to have 9 (Super Mario Galaxy was adjusted down to 9.96 million, but it should easily hit the 10 million mark soon) games that have sold over 10 million units. With Just Dance 2 still in the top 50 (and it's at 8.95 million), it also has a chance of clearing 10 million.

Even the Grand-daddy of them all, the PS2 (with software sales of 1.6 billion!) has five games that sold over 10 million copies in its catalog. Only of these games (Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas) has passed 20 million units (Wii has 7). Heck, even the 360 will surpass PS2 when the inevitable Call of Duty comes out this holiday season.

I know this is old news to some, as these huge selling games are a part of what made (and continues to make) the Wii an interesting specimen of a console. But it's still important to note methinks. I even wonder if Just Dance 3 can make it to the 10 million mark...

Now FFXIII-2 is a million seller on PS3, I had a quick look on game DB and found out it was actually the 133th million seller on PS3, while Wii has only 131.

We are in a most curious situation : the best-selling system has the lowest amount of million sellers (and 500K sellers), but it's the only one to have 20 million sellers. What does it mean? High concentration on some titles, so an audience much less varied than the the HD competition. Also, PS3&360 million sellers have many more high quality titles than Wii's.

The question is the following : with so many people playing the same games, can Wii still be called the leader of the generation?

This seems a strange conclusion to draw.  If you look at the ~10m+ sellers on Wii, what do you get?  A few mini-game collections (if that's what you'd call the Wii Sports games - maybe they could be called sports games), a couple of fitness games, a racing game, a 2D platformer, a 3D platformer and a fighting game.  You'll perhaps be able to add a dance game to that by the end of the generation.  What do you get on the HD systems?  A mini-game collection and FPSes (CoD + Halo 3).  This does not suggest a less varied audience on the Wii to me.

Also, not sure quite how valid the bundling argument being made by a few people is in relation to creating artificial software totals.  My Wii came with one bundled game (that I would have bought if it hadn't), while my 360 came with two (neither of which would I have bothered with, and both of which I part-exchanged within a couple of weeks).

Well I'd use 20m as Wii's achievement, as X360 should come out on top of the Wii. (5 as of now, GTAIV, GTAV, Reach, Halo 4, COD 9)

Good point. I kinda forgot that seven out of nine 10+ million sellers on the Wii were also 20+ million sellers until I was half-way done writing the comment . It'll stay at that number for Wii, but it's still a huge achievement.

The only other game that can reach those sales is Kinect Adventures. Every other console game this generation really doesn't stand a chance (at least when it comes to console specific games). Actually that's quite an achievement for the 360, to surpass the PS2 on 10+ million sellers and equaling it in 20+ million sellers.

It's funny how threatened PS3 fans have spent years and years trying to downplay Nintendo's massive success. Bottom line, Nintendo completely overwhelmed Sony in sales this generation, and they did so while managing to score several of the highest rated games this generation (including both the #1 and #2 spots).

It has nothing to do with people disliking something they can't afford - that's just a sad excuse by Sony fans - if people couldn't afford the prices that Sony was asking, then 70 million iOS devices wouldn't have sold (largely at higher prices) in the last 3 months alone.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Theres the rub, you wont see a skyrim or BAtman type game becasue, the WII cannot handle those games. FACT. ITs not anywhere near powerful enough to tod so, some of you Wii fans make me laugh, you cry about how its not being treated equally to the the PS360, its not being treated equally because it is not equal its that simple, to say why there isnt something like Skyrim on Wii is strange, hell WIi can barely run the CODs.

When has third parties pour more tiem and effort into a Wii version?? That makes no sense, Wii is a much less complicated machine, why would they need to pour my time an effort into it?  Consumers shift toward more superior versions of games?? Thats what I have been saying this whole time, you wanna blame 3rd parties go right on ahead. Keep it mind the HD versions are better because they are more powerful hardware, and more power means you could do more, that should be common sense
