I hope the vita is updated on an annual or 1.5 year basis... similar to the iphone...update the cameras, the processors, ram...hopefully within a couple years it will have a 1080p OLED screen. Sony cannot wait 6-7 years before updating the 540p OLED screen, we already have phones that are 720p.

Not sure, I mean, people will see vita as a "dedicated" gaming device. If it was to be upgraded every 1.5 years. They simply wont buy it.

Its like upgrading the kinect every 1.5 years, then no one would buy it.

Yay!!!

That was funny, but the PSP Vita still has a shot at being successful.

what the hell is a PSP Vita?

PS Vita or PSP Vita, that really don't matter because I for one will not be buying.

What have you learned from the Japan launch of the Vita that you might look to remedy for North America and Europe later this month?

There are two major differences. One is the type of lineup that we had for the launch. Games like Uncharted are not a big name in Japan. Hopefully it’s growing in awareness like Call of Duty or Grand Theft Auto. It’s not like this game will sell a million units. Gamers in Japan want games catered to their tastes. From that standpoint we didn’t have a strong lineup for the Japanese market.

The second is the PSP. We’re advertising PSP on TV while advertising Vita. So it’s three portables in Japan.

I’m cautiously optimistic. We’ll have to see how the launch goes. In terms of what we have as a foundation as a platform, we’re envisioning this as a seven or eight year platforms and are very happy what we have today and can improve upon it.

This is proof that mobile technology is advancing way too fast. Can a dedicated handheld even last 7 years? I would think that 5 is the most. In 7 years we'll have an iPhone 10 and it will be a lot more capable than a Vita in not only apps but gaming.

Not necessarily, the PSP had GTA 3 Stories in 2005 while iPhone got it 6 years later, only the latest iPhones can play GTA 3. Serious gaming will never be big on smartphones or tablets becoz the tech is advancing every year.

There isn't much of a line-up for it that I like, but down the road... I'm picking one up on day one so I get a free $20 gift card from Target to help pay for whatever game I grab.

You're gonna pick up a PS Vita day one so you can get a $20 gift card?

Upgrading the Screen resolution only doesn't makes it looks prettier graphics, in fact with the RAW PSV power if its screen has less resolution it would be able to make pretier graphics, if there are phones with 720p screen, that doesn't matter in the end if PSV has similar CPUGPU power to that 720p phone because of its small resolution the games will be way prettier in terms of graphics on PSV, that resolution screen stuff doesn't matter to much on portable if the GPU and CPU power are not abble to full realise it, thats more stuff for HD TVs, that are big screens and even there, Killzone 3 is 780p? and looks way prettier than some 1080p games

yea, maybe we'll get that PS-Phone. or Vita Phone.

Going to need some better battery technology or you will never be able to make a call.

I take it you never gamed on an iPhone or Android device? Gaming on an iPhone kills the battery faster than gaming on the Vita.

I wonder how long the Vita battery lasts without playing games. Has anyone tested that?

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

Well, the DS managed to last about 7 years. I don't see why Vita and 3DS can't manage it.

Aside from the fact mobile technology is increasing far more rapidly than computers, and in 7-8 years time we'll likely be seeing console-grade graphics and games on phones, so that could be an issue.

It will be interesting to see how things fold out for this portable generation, for it may well be the last 'true' portable generation.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

That was my point. If they released a Vita Phone then you would kill the battery through playing games mainly thus not having any battery left to make calls.  It is pretty much the same as playing games too much on your iphone or android and killing the battery.  If you try and use a device for calls and games then you better have a bad ass battery (I have an android by the way and played a few free games on it).  That is all that I am saying.

Thus the beginning of the end of an era....the 10 year plan era.
