People make a big deal about 360 and rrod....but just about every ps3 owner i know including me has had the ylod.

Sadly that's irrelivent.  You and your friends just happen to be in the small bucket of failing PS3 oweners.  The majority aren't.  Of the three current home consoles the Wii is the most reliable followed by the PS3 then the 360 (that's in terms of LTD, I suspect the new slim 360 is more or less as reliable as a PS3 now but in total 360 will never have anywhere near the average failure rate for Wii/PS3 due to the RROD failure levels).

The reason people make a big deal of RROD was because it was a big deal - when talking about failure rates individual experience is meaningless : you're playing with averages not individual experience.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

It's dead. My 60G Phat is now doing the same thing.

i will have to cancel the Vita then, i cant afford to buy a new PS3 and a vita.. :(

Now seems a good time for someone to write an article about how PS3's shoddy hardware is reason #57,386 that the Vita is doomed. Get cracking, Gamespot!

argh im so sad right now, so i need a USB to USB cable to get my stuff of, what happens if it won't turn back on after using a fan? my stuff is gone? :O also also how do i get LBP2 out? NOOOO

If it doesnt turn back on, LBP2 is stuck...I dont know how you can get it out. Also, if it doesnt turn on a USB to USB wont do anything, however, all your data is on the harddrive, which is removable and transferrable to a new PS3.

The new PS3 will format the old hard drive if you want to use it, so you must use another method to get your data out.

I recommend the hairdryer method and then use a lan cable to connect the old PS3 to the new PS3 and select a back up option in the system settings of your old PS3. That will move all of your data to your new on, including demos and other stuff

Good point, I forgot about that. Although I think my buddy had one of those external hardrive cases, so he put his old PS3 harddrive in the case then hooked it up via USB to his new PS3 and transferred the old data to his new PS3. That may be a lie, I would need to check with him to verify.

right i have a new Ps3 now but my old one still won't turn on, i have done the method with the fans and hair dryer for hours and it still isn't working.. its now sitting in my freezer downstairs
is there a way to just get the data off? if i connect a cable can i not just do it that way without having to set it to do it from the old PS3.

im so fucking angry right now, its taken me around 4 hours now.

i have also tried everything to get the disk out.. it aint coming out any time soon :(

Sorry, everyone.

Already wrote a Vita is doomed thread, I don't want to make another one.

Unless you have some more ideas, of course.
