PS1 and PS2 were both $299 which was in line with the competition. Wasn't until the PS3 that they went super expensive. 

But now with the PSV, and their (supposed) unwillingness to release the PS4 for another couple of years, supposedly to get the most powerful console, it seems that Sony might not be going back to their PS1/2 roots. Besides, if they did, their "true" (ie. PS3) fans would never forgive them for it.

at this time for me all stars point towards a MS win they got NA and they just keep growing else where, they should also be able to get the crowd that the Wii had since there most likely going to have motion controls at the start of next gen. there fisrt few yrs will not resemble its sales of this gen b/c it will be more established to gamers, 15M is highly possible for its 1st full yr of sales

thats what happened in the 7th gen remember? bluray, teh cell and last to launch, yet sony cant do cross game chat, fully install games, custom soundtracks, and the majority of multi plats are inferior on it

i believe that sony needs to at the very least launch alongside or very shortly after MS next console if they want any shot of outselling it

If you are a gamer gamer you are not just going to buy a Wii you are going to buy what has the games.

Thats the thing i dont want cheap i am willing to spend $600 on a new console again if it means awesome hardware and graphic capabilities.

Well, Rol's point was proven pretty quickly.

Its not that Sony released late its that ms rushed, multiplates are not inferior it comes down to the developer. you cant make a multiplat game and go all out with the PS3 version because xbox has to play it to its multiplatform thats why PS3 exclusives shine so much.

$250 isn't that bad - the only reason why it seems expensive now is because Nintendo cut the 3DS price so fast, which Sony couldn't have anticipated when they planned the Vita. In fact, do you remember when Sony announced the price? Most people agreed that the price was fine. But since the 3DS is cheaper now the PSV is "overpriced" and "expensive" all of a sudden. (Well played Nintendo)

 That has nothing to do with getting the most powerful console next gen. The only reason Sony wants to extend this gen as long as possible is because of their financial situation. They need to get as much money as possible out of the PS3.

  We didn't have the most powerful console in previous generations with the PS1 or PS2 - we don't really care. Well, at least I don't.
