Forums - Gaming - Why Starhawk is better than Halo Reach! (Online gameplay only!)

First of all let me make this clear this is only me and my friends opinion I'm not trying to claim a statement of any sort. I've been playing Halo ever since Halo 1 came to PC with online gameplay and I've simply loved it. Infact Halo is one of my favourite online games after Uncharted 3 and GTA 4. However ever since I've been playing Starhawk I don't think there is any game which can come close to it. Starhawk has the base of games like Halo, Uncharted and Socom (When it was actually good) and from there reached the sky with innovation. I don't want to go to in-depth with detail but really instead of fighting for vechiles and wasting a whole entire game trying to find one in Starhawk you can build many sorts of vechiles such as a razorback (similar to Warthog), jetpacks, jets and more. The battle and build concept is just simply amazing. Not only that but you can build walls, turrets that you can control, an armory, a shield and much more. Now let's start the comparing with Halo.

Visuals: Starhawk>>>>>>>>>Halo (It's Santa Monica the visuals are amazing!)

Gameplay: Starhawk>>>>>>>>>>Halo (The battle and build system is the best and most innovating idea I've ever seen/ experienced)

Time Consuming: Starhawk>>>>>>>>>>Halo (I've spent 3 times as much time in the Starhawk beta than the Halo Reach or Halo 3 beta)

Music: Halo-Starhawk (Both are great so therfore a tie)

MP Maps: Starhawk>>>>>>>>>>>>Halo

Note: This is my opinion so please don't take it personally and please don't judge any of the games without actually playing it.

.... so much wrong here. Most of all music. I'm sure years from now the starhawk music will still be iconic....

A better thread would be comparing section 8 and starhawk. Then feeling bad that timegate created a really interesting concept for a studio with more money to copy it.

Turkish says and I'm allowed to quote that: Uncharted 3 and God Of War 3 look better than Unreal Engine 4 games will or the tech demo does. Also the Naughty Dog PS3 ENGINE PLAYS better than the UE4 ENGINE.

I tried the Starhawk beta but couldnt get into it (didnt have the patience) but I like that you can build houses and turrets.

Feels a bit odd to compare it to Halo though as Halo is much more straightforward. A comparison to Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, Battlefield or Brink would be more relevent.

starhawk is fun for a bit but gets old. friend gave me a beta, now to play on the PS3 i have to unplug the wires to the xbox because i only have 1 component input.
the starhawk beta isn't worth leaving the PS3 plugged in.

halo 1 system link is still one of the best multiplayer things you can ever do in your life 2 original xbox's 8 people total on big tv's = amazing.

starhawk is more like section 8 but a whole lot better... not worth $60 imo. i'd buy it if it was a 360 arcade game.

I must disagree, didn't enjoy the beta at all ='(

I'd give the Music to Halo hands down even though I fucking love the few soundtracks I've heard in Starhawk (especially the western feel to the opening song when you're in the intro <3), but Halo just does it like most game don't. The only games that I find better are MGS and God of War (and I personally love Uncharteds simple adventure songs that always make shit far more epic too ^_^).

The reason I dislike Halo is due to the feel of shooting. It's not exactly Killzone in the regard that blood gets splashed around and the enemies fall down making an animation while you mow them down and show no mercy as a Helghast... The overall feel isn't just my cup of tea. I generally don't enjoy FPS much but Killzone really changed that with the unique heavy feel.

But yes, Starhawk in my opinion aswell is far more appealing than Halo. Why you ask?
Because of the Hawks. Yes its that simple. The starhawks are just so fucking amazing to fly and the dog fights are like a game that I have been dreaming for since I watched Star Wars as a kid.

starhawk is a completely different game than halo O_o except if you play competitive forge mode I guess. How is it compared to red fraction, or even gears of war and uncharted 3, so we can get an idea of how it is compared to similar games.
Anyway the game looks very promising. My ps3 is at home currently, so no beta for me, but come summer vacation I'm definitely at least renting it.

I'm comparing it with the Halo series. But I'll just compare it with Reach I guess.

The beta is amazing and i cant stop playing it. its really fun and i dont seem to get frustrated when i die unlike when i play cod.

I played and loved Warhawk to death. I got into the private beta for Starhawk, but it just felt off. I didn't like the camera angle (especially compared to how it was in Warhawk; I much prefer that), and the controls really messed with my head after having played so much Warhawk. The building aspect is very cool and the mechs are awesome, but they made so many small tweaks to things that it just didn't feel quite right to me. That's not to say that it's bad; I just didn't enjoy it as much. Still, if they release a demo like they did for Warhawk, I'll try that out to see what's changed because I do want to like the game.

As for the comparisons to Halo Reach... Well, I don't know. Starhawk is still very solid, and I enjoyed playing multiplayer on Reach, but I think Warhawk beats both of them.
