Forums - Sales - Xbox 360 tops Wii and PS3 for 1st time in yearly global sales

All that matters is that God of War 3 is the only HD specific (Wii games don't count) re-release to sell a million units. Profits, number of consoles sold, number of consoles shipped, number of software sold--none of that stuff matters and you all know it.

Go Sony!!

If sony won, why aren't they touting it from the top of a mountain like they normally would? They would normally be stuffing it down investor's throats to try and recoup some of their company's value which has dwindled 82% the past decade.

Sony didn't 'brag' about it last year either when they not only outsold microsoft they also outshipped them as well.

Because Wii trumped them all.

You don't understand the significance they'd gain from this by claiming that the PS3 was the "best selling home console", again spinning the PR in a positive way that would put them in a good spotlight with the investors, after all. The company has been bleeding money, and have potentially missed out on about $400m profits due to the price cut of PS3, which could have brought their losses down from the abysmal 2bil reported.

They didn't claim it, since likely they didn't win jack shit. I respect this site and all, but there is a certain % inaccuracy, which makes this just too close too call, let alone extrapolation of quite a lot of hard-to-track regions, your pig headness on the matter in the last two threads I've read is quite interesting, are you the new Sony CEO by any chance?

Because funnily enough, even the hardcore of Sony fans have hidden their faces from sales threads due to the reasonably abysmal shipment number (considerably less than they've expected).

Why is it nearly always the people with avatars that feature characters from xbox360 exclusive games that seem to have a problem with the ps3 selling more..............hhmmmmmmm.

Basing a supposed victory or loss on wether a company comes out and brags about its sales is a little bit silly.

So because I only have a 360 I must be as biased as you are in your judgement? Great rebutal there, didn't achieve anything at all, just proved that when faced with counter arguments you proceed to go off on a different tangent.

I couldn't give less shit about sales if I tried, but that seems to be the most common topic on this website at the present, with all the financials, so I might as well contribute, and as per usual random manner of users seem to sprout up around this time - fanboys from either side, who have less small amount of posts and only seem to post during times like these. My money is on you having an alternative account, but as usual just needing an outlet to troll without consequences.

Try again.

Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.

you guys are all kinda rediculous. NOBODY on these boards, starting these threads, arguing back and forth, and twisting shipment numbers to fit your annoying allegiance to one console or the other really knows exactly how many Sony or Microsoft sold through to customers.
NOBODY.
Here, I'll repeat it.
NOT ONE OF YOU knows exactly who won, who lost, who's first, blah..blah..blah...
What we do know, for absolutely sure, is that Microsoft said they won 2011 and neither Sony or Nintendo bothered to try and contradict them. There was no argument, (you know, from the guys who's occupation actually depends on statements like that as opposed to a bunch of forum swinging cheerleaders) from either side.
Why?
Because Microsoft won. Shipments, sales, attachment rate..... end of story.
Twist it around all you want. Stay up at night, tossing and turning. Come up with more utterly lame and pointless protests. Won't change it.
If Sony thought, for one second, that they beat Microsoft... they'd of said so. They didn't. Live with it for a year. You'll be O.K... honestly.
Because

You do apparently.

here... I'll come up with a proper argument.
Microsoft said they won 2011. Sony didn't. It's February 2012 now. These are the companies that actually make and sell their consoles for a profit. I'm pretty sure they know better than VGchartz.... lol.
How's that? Proper enough. I think so.
... and for Jazzy, I don't care who won. It doesn't affect me in any way, but... it is sooooooo annoying having to listen to the devout PS3 camp whine, moan, complain and simply not own up.

Same here, I couldn't give a toss about either company and the incessant moaning comes from all camps, just thought it was amusing you used the word contradict when your post did just that.

No that was just a simple observation about avatars.

I've already said that your 'counter argument' that Sony didn't brag about sales doesn't prove anything, it's completly meaningless and they didn't do it last year either. On the other hand in plenty of threads i have already showed that Microsoft overshipped in 2011 by comparing 2010 and 2011 shipped and sold data. Yet when the facts are laid out in black and white people still want to think that the 360 outsold the ps3 when all the data says otherwise.

A comma would be useful there.
