Forums - Sony - Best Reasons To Buy And Avoid PlayStation Vita

The same points can be reversed for each.

Pros: for buying
1. Good price
2. Good games
3. Good outlook on future
4. Love sony

Cons: for buying
1. Bad price
2. Bad games
3. Poor outlook on future
4. Hate Sony

Each person can see each point different.  I might find it affordable, but hate the games.  Someone else could love the games but find it too expensive.  Someone else could find it both affordable and great games and vise versa.  The looking at future, some look based on what is announced, others look at hows its doing.  So depending on angle your looking it could look bad or good.  Then on to #4 for fanboys.

I will get one eventualy, after getting burned buying a 3ds day one, not that i regret it after the ambassador program, i just cant fork over another $250 for a handheld day 1. I'll wait for a bundle or something. besides, just to many console and 3ds games to play from feburary to May for me to get a vita now.

I'm interested in seeing how it will perform outside of Japan ...

What I see as the biggest risk for it is a combination of factors. Between the 3DS' rapid price cut, the high price tag of the PS-Vita, and the PS-Vita's poor performance in Japan I wouldn't be surprised if people held off buying one simply because they expected a price cut. If this happened you might see the PS-Vita perform as poorly outside of Japan as it is within Japan; and this could translate into more people holding off because they were certain it would have a price cut.

Why was "Soon to be a collector's item" not included on the pro side? I'm detecting some major anti-Sony bias here.

I'm going to buy it and then hide it in my closet. It's the only way I can buy and avoid it.

Personally I was not considering a purchase until last week. The reasons are simple Wipe out and Little Big Planet are the only titles from Sony I am psyched for. Third party games look okay and I would likely purchase one.

What caused me to debate buying one. EBGames offered a 100$ off Vita's if you traded in four used titles and if you traded your old PSP you would get double the trade in value. So thinking I could get the special edition for 150$ with a 4 gig card and Little Deviants. Also hearing PSVita software would cost less then the 59.99$ thought earlier. Wipe Out for 39.99$ sounds so good. Looking forward I would love CoD and so fourth.

But then I remembered the 3DS I invested in that and ended up paying 100$ more for buying early. Then major third party games like Assassins Creed and the delay of Rayman Origins left me with only first party content to look forward too.

So in debt I can't justify a PSVita also knowing if it sees Japanese level success a price cut will be necessary to save it or it will be Dreamcasted. Third party games in development may never come if Vital does not outperform 3DS's American launch numbers then third parties will scrap projects left and right.

I will wait till this winter to buy a Vita. Likely get one on the cheap on black Friday.

Snake Drake do you have games you could part with? EBGames has good trade in offers.towards Vita's. It actually would make Vita very affordable.

Have decided to adopt a 'wait and see' approach. Mind you that's what i did with the psp and never ended up getting one. I like the look of the machine, but I have a few concerns preventing me from buying it (which is kind of ironic cos if people do buy the damn thing much of my concerns will abate).

The launch lineup isn't as stellar to me as some would have you believe, so I can sit it out for the time being, not to mention some decent software available presently and in the next month or so on a rival handheld I already happen to possess.
Hope it all works out though as psvita seems to have a lot of potential and I respect it's philosophy.

nice to see the uk gets a raw deal yet again here its £229/£279 (USD conversion = $363/$442) no value at all over here, ill wait for the revision plus seeing a preview on youtube from a guy called blunty on his channel Blunty3000, hes done several videos focusing on every element he could like unboxing, powering/setting up, testing ect and found the screen out side particularly reflective meaning you will struggle out side to play it.

im just hoping that sony revises the screen tech and uses super amoled screen tech in the revision as unless this is a one off kinda ruins the whole point of it being portable.

those prices again though this time converted from USD to GBP $250 = £158 and $300 = £189, might be good value in the US but here those prices stink, i wonder how much shipping costs from the US to the UK including import tax mind you sent as a presant by airmail hmmm. ???
