Forums - Website Topics - Will people stop rating games that aren't even out yet?

That won't work since you can vote without being a member.

That sucks. Maybe in time.

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

The ratings should be left alone, the only thing that should be done is that games that aren't out yet should not have a rate option.

I'm of the opinion that the only way to prevent activities like this is to have a much more complicated voting system which takes into account a person's voting habits, and to display a person's voting statistics to shame them if they're voting down games on purpose; if a person had a record of voting on 100+ Wii games with an average score of 2/10 that would be somewhat embarrasing for them.

That would be really cool! The only "simple" solution to avoid ratings before releases at least, is if those in charge of the database have a simple tool tab with a kind of "add game to vote list" command or some such. So the game would be displayed as soon as someone enters it into the base, but no one can give it a rating (or proclaim ownership) before the game is eligible for it.

It pisses me off when childish fanboys rate games that aren't out yet, and give them 1's or 10's, or when someone rates all games poorly for one (or several) specific platform (s)!

I think the lowest score I've ever given in the database is a 3, can't remember which one it was, but it deserved it after I actually played it and hated it! I never rate games I've never played, what's the use?

At the very least, non-members should not be able to rate games, as it shoudl primarly show the games' quality from Vgchratz point of view, and reflect the users in here.

The ratings are never going to reflect all the users here unless every single member sits down and rates every single game.  That includes Gballzack and all his 50 or so accounts.
