Forums - Sony - David Jaffe Clarifies Twisted Metal Delay in Europe and Content Cuts

that would be way more better. i mean... the delay just for the cuts is really hard. the cuts are hard. no one has any problem to import from UK. but importing from NA costs around 70€ which is ~90$.

Kind of tired at the moment, unless I misinterpreted, that all sounded like censorship as opposed to cutting content.

Well, yes and no.  I'd say censorship is adjusting a finished work (be it via cuts or whatever) forced on the creator without their real consent.  While this seems mightly close in the end what you're talking about is the creator chosing to make adjustments to gain a certain rating - something very common now in films and other media.  I know an aspect of censorship if driving it - presumerably to satisfy German rating boards - but it's pretty clear that Jaffe is consenting to make adjustments to produce a final work for release.

I don't like it mind - but he is fully accepting the situation and working as a "hired hand" to produce something of a certain nature.  To me this is akin to - for example - Sly Stallone deciding to give in to pressure to make Expendables 2 a PG13 rather than an R.

Sounds like it's all fairly minimal.  Funnily enough I always find trimming a bit of gore seems to result in something more violent in terms of perception but there you go.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

That sucks - I bet it's our fault - sorry! :(

Why can't they just cut the german version or simply not release in Germany. Now I have to import from the US and not the UK like I normally do. Can anyone name me some decent US shops that ship internationally and take paypal?

wait... so when is it coming out for the UK?

Sucks for Europe. I don't think the cuts unveiled will hurt game play but it isn't fair that Europe does not get the same game exactly. I also don't know if all these cuts were necessary for all of Europe. As Affect explains he didn't want a different version for each region. But maybe Sony should have both versions in Europe in countries that permit it launch the American version in countries where it isn't acceptable have the second version. Would make sense and most Europeans would still receive the original content.
