He seemed capable enough of cleaning up Kutaragi's messes in the PS division, so perhaps he'll be good at fixing Stringer's as well

what is happeing to that fool Stringer now?

He will get a huge paycheck and then, he will retire being a millionaire.

He'll have to retire, who'd hire him!

Stringer was brought in because Sony was struggling... it isnt struggling because Stringer was brought in.  He presided over a golden era for Sony Corp in the US from 1997 to 2005 before moving to oversee the whole Corp.    The old guard, including clueless Ken, are the reason why Sony is where it is.

The guy has a pedigree in business.... some things just take time or are a lost cause.  Stringer has been a fall guy for a lot of the previous mistakes and has at least slimmed down the bloated mess that was in situ previously.

People who see Kaz as a knight in shining armout really need to get a reality check.

LOL

Didn't you JUST say a few short weeks ago that Sony was in dire straits?

"it isnt struggling because Stringer was brought in."

Sure is haters gunna hate round here

I do love a considered and intelligent response, with the stock haterzzzzz suffix.

I did say Sony is in dire straits, because it is.... If you think that is all down to Stringer then fine...

it isnt... but fine.

You credit him for the accomplishments of the playstation, and say he's not to blame for everything after that.

He OK'd playstation 3. You've called ps3 a nightmare (paraphrasing). Who's to blame, again?

Er... no.

Your rage seems to be impairing your ability to read properly.

I didnt credit him with the accomplishments of the Playstation.  I credited him with the performance of the Sony Corporation of America during a pretty good time for them over there and before that at CBS.  (the clue was where I said Sony Corp and not Playstation in my post)

It's not rage really. I believe it's called poor reading comprehension. Proper schooling usually fixes that.

I'd like to see exactly how Sony corp of America is doing better then than it is now, in a way that does not include the playstation.

Sony's corporate culture was seen as one of their biggest reasons for profit loss.

So they brought in Stringer to try and break up their negative culture.... where every division head treated their own part of their company as their own fiefdom.

he failed, so they bring in... one of the people directly from that culture?

I know that they've been grooming him for this position for about  a year i beleive, but I still don't understand why.

I mostly agree with you, but I usually don't have a strong supporting argument. He took over when most of the past decisions were being set in stone, the murder of the walkman brand, the design choices for the ps3, the investments of television division.

I can't really comment on the relationship with mobile division, since my knowledge of the division is lacking, and I personally have a strong consumer dislike of the brand based on negative experience.

Also I share a similar view of Kaz, maybe he will be lucky and external factors start working for the company and not against it.
