You should file this quote under rumor and speculation

360 was too doing unimpressive numbers compared to its 2011 numbers. 

Xbox 360 is the cheapest it's going to get here in the UK I think, it's at the same price point the PS2 slim was stuck at for years.

sure 360 will outsell ps3 in europe this year. after that price cut that hasnt been for 3 years comes 360 will storm ahead in every country in europe! with america on its side it will be unstoppable. microsoft will also be releasing a kinect game exclusive to japan that will exlode in sales putting the 360 ahead of even the 3ds in japan! ps3 is in HUGE trouble this year. the 360 is just too awesome for it.

It won't matter another year from now as the next generation will have started. The PS3 is obviously selling faster in Europe and much slower in the U.S. then it did with the PS2. The reason for the XBox 360 success is that it caters more toward Americans. The Wii catered more toward casual gamers, which there are more of then hardcore gamers, hence the huge number of Wii sales. Microsoft was (amazingly enough) able to put millions of casual gamers from the Wii over to the 360/Kinect. The key for Microsoft to beat the PS2 next-gen is to 1) Get out there early again. 2) Keep the price of the system and games low. 3) Sign developer companies who make games that cater to Euro and Japan gamers. They sort of did that with the XBox 360 when they had all those exclusives prior to the PS3 and Wii being released. They had many JRPG exclusive for the 360 which really helped it in Japan. Then they stopped doing this. I haven't see a popular JRPG exclusive for the 360 in 2yrs now. In any case the PS3 will most likely win as it's more popular in the U.S., then the 360 is in Europe.

I dont know what it's like in other contries but in the US MS has partnered with retailers and marketed very well. besides all the reasons already listed that it why they have dominated here.

Whilst it's unlikely, if the PS3 doesn't get another price cut in Europe this year but 360 does, it could be a very close call.



They gap wasn't too large last year.

Should win this easily...but more because the US is a bigger market in general than actual preference. Although the ps3 has managed to pull a gap despite a year disadvantage so it has that going for it to. Dont really see this as much of a competition, even though it might seem close.

Well I'm glad for once you didn't have an igronant statment backed up with fanboy type facts. Although this time around I do understand your point of view. Although the PS3 was a huge faliure WW when it released due to the fact that it delayed all its major titles, was very expensive, and had no major software. And back in 2008 the price difference was very high between the two consoles and the 360 prcie cut just widened that gap + the launch of a heavy ression most people all over the world would purchase a 360 over a PS3. But there would have to be $100-$150 price cut + major software for 360 to take over PS3 as of today's stats.  

Well a $50 price drop on standalone 360 consoles and kinect would mean a combined $100 price drop on 360/kinect bundles. 

Then you have Halo 4, the return of master chief, and without a doubt the biggest ad blitz MS has ever done with a Halo title.
