Forums - Gaming - Do You Remember When/How You Became A Gamer?

I remember my parents just up and got me this little bootleg NES system one day. It had Super Mario Bros, a Tanks game, Bomberman, and some others. It said it had 999 games but they were different levels from the same dozen or so games - - - Bought like 5 of those since they'd break so easily and they were so cheap XD

And that's how I became a gamer

My first legit game system was a SNES I bought one random day

OP you're not a real gamer, Super Mario Land wasn't on the SNES. Anybody knows that.

If you're talking about Miz he never said SMB was on the SNES.

I became a gamer during the early 90s, when I started to know what console gaming was. Before that I used to play a shit load of arcade games on a 386 PC bought while I was 8. Now I am 27 and still my passion continues to grow. There was the children's magazine around the time that had a column for gamers and they used to post details on all sorts of games and consoles/handhelds. The highlights were SNES and the 16 bit Sega mega drive sold in my region(Doha-ME) around the time. Sonic the hedgehog, MK II on the 16 Bit Sega really lured me onto console gaming. MK 2 barely ran on my 386. I would thus say the gamer in me was born from then on with an urge to get SEGA but I couldn't. I kept playing at my friends' all the time and kept updates of upcoming games and consoles. I won a PS1 in 97 for the month's best sketch posted on young editors' magazine issued by the then local daily. That catapulted everything in me to this level of gaming I am in today.

My Grandpa had an NES with Super Mario 1 and 2 along with other random games I liked.

My brother got an N64 when I was 4 and I played Mario 64, Yoshi's Story, and other games, but I was REALlY excited to go to a family friend's house because they had Mario Kart 64 and SSB.

In 4th grade I saw a GC commercial with the goofy store seller dressed as Link to advertise the Collector's Edition. I asked my parents for a GC, but they were reluctant. That is, until my parent- Teacher conference showed my parents how wonderful I was in school. And the rest is history. :)

I started back when I was 2 years old. My sis (who was 5 at the time) would play super mario bros for the NES and I would just sit there and watch for hours. Then when I was 3, I started playing myself and from there on, I become a hardcore gamer. When I got Super Mario RPG when I was like 8 or 9, I knew this would be my destiny. Favorite RPG to date.

They are my passion, my favorite hobby and I will continue playing till the day I drop.

OP means original poster, he was talking about BHR

I started watching my brother playing on its Mega Drive when I was 3 or 4 I guess, after some months I started playing.
