People use smartphones to play games.

Unless you have Mario to back you up, all else will fail.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

So Mario is the best franchise/game ever according to you? Don't you think you're gaming on the wrong device then?

Brand recognition sells. Nintendo has Mario so despite all changes to the handheld sector done by smartphones, Nintendo will be fine given their time tested proven franchises. I said nothing about quality.

And I am a 360 console gamer but a Nintendo handheld one too

sure it does, I lost my 3DS and PSP to some asshole but I'm not in a burning situation to get a new 3DS yet thanks to Princess Punt. Not to mention Nvidia is pushing their Tegra super hard for the future.

Got an iphone 4s last week after my previous HTC Desire decided to die. So had a chance to play a few games like Infinity Blade 2. I also have been lucky to try the Vita in London recently.

In my opinion Infinity Blade looks on par if not slightly better then Uncharted. So I think the whole "smartphones can't play games" thing is offically dead. In terms of "looks" smartphones are getting better and better in terms of power. The phone has a dual-core A5 CPU processor, I remember buying them for my pc not many years ago! The next Ipad/Iphone will be announced this year and will probably be quad core meaning it will be able to handle things like Crysis most likely. Which makes you think in 2 years time what will be out there? The Vita won't increase in power for many years. It's specs will be surpassed by phones rapidly.

But the problem is and will always be controls. There are rumours of a mini controller coming out for smartphones that is better then the Gametel one. If this turns out to be portable and good then that get's rid of that issue.

The thing with portable consoles is most people probably never leave their house with it. People talk about taking it on the trains or on the bus, while they wait in college or whatever. That simply isn't true. On the way into London every day I see people either working on mini netbooks or messing around on a tablet. Rarely if ever do you see someone out with a portable console. Most people who have a DS/PSP etc probably use their console at home. I have never taken my 3DS amywhere except on holiday.

Where as your phone is with you wherever you go. It fits in your pocket, you don't need to lug a power pack around, don't need a case to carry it in, don't need to swap games/cards to play it. Add to that the actual price of games is a tiny fraction of what it costs to buy console games. Most only costing £1 and so on.

And before people say the graphics look crap this is IB2.....

The comparison said nothing about sales.

These comparisons lead to sales. They always do.

Indeed, when you enter

at lest we now know someone who actually thinks its logical to compare a phone with a handheld game console. Betcha he goes and compares apples with oranges in real life.

Hey, why is your orange color orange and my apple is color red? hey why does your orange have lotsa juice i barely get any juice out by squeezing my apple. LOL!

thats coz he doesnt know shit about what he's talking about. If he know what he was talking about, he'd know that the Vita has b/c for every psp game that's available on PSN.

Not sure about PSX compatibility, but I read somewhere that the VITA will be PSone classic compatible.

Considering all those PSP and PSone games on the PSN, (duno about MInis..) plus all the new games coming out for VITA, it wins games category hands down.

Similarities would be that they both struggle to make phone calls.
