Actually, it reminds me of Four Swords Adventures.

A niche title on a system without the userbase to support niche titles. Cutesy graphics on a system whose playerbase likes gritty, realistic graphics. A 2D game on a system primarily touted for its 3D capabilities. A 2D platformer on a system that nobody bought to play 2D platformers. That, and the gameplay just looks downright dull. It's like somebody took the platformer genre, stripped out everything that made it fun (speed, variety, exploration), left the annoying things (collectathons), and added all new annoying things (repetitive-looking puzzles). |
All your complaints about the game are complete nonsense.Considering the player is free to make whatever kind of level they want,a level can be about speed if you want, it can have ultra difficult puzzles if you want, you dont have to collect anything if you dont want to(even though this is a hugely popular feature in platformers)
The sample levels in the game are just to give the player inspiration to go make their own.So if a player feels that the levels included in the game have, for example "repetitive looking puzzles" they can go make their own puzzles or go through the levels uploaded by users for non repetetive looking puzzles.

Then online games like Super Stardust HD are "flops" because it doesn't have the userbase.... No, it's actually doing good, and unlike Super Stardust or other online games, LittleBigPlanet is getting the media attention, it has received awards, more people are aware of this title, and I guess it's safe to say that it's being "hyped." Regarding your point about 2D, well, the same can be said in regards to Dreamcast/PS2/Gamecube/Xbox: No one really bought those consoles with 2D in mind, but that didn't mean each console didn't see their fair share of 2D titles. Your last point is more along the lines of opinion, and I'm not going to try to persuade you; you can have it. |
I can't find sales data for SSHD, but even then, trying to compare a full-priced title to a budget downloadable one in terms of sales is sort of fallacious.
Also, were there any 2D titles last gen that sold AAA-caliber numbers?
@ TheDjib: Depending solely on people other than the developers to make content for your game is bound to lead to disappointment.
"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

Do you guys think this will sell like Eye of Judgement, or will it be a multi-million seller?

That's the hitch: People said many of the same things about Eye of Judgment that they're now saying about LBP. And look how well the first did.

I think the game should have somewhere in between the two.Its lifetime sales imo will be between 600k and 1m.

Name calling skills are something I always like to see in forum moderator. Nothing says 'I won't abuse my power' better.
Regardless of how good/bad the game will be, I doubt it'll sell well.
It doesn't really impress me or affect my interest in the game. Looks sorta 'meh,' the characters look like voodoo dolls, which turn me off. It looks akin to Four Swords and Mario (side-scrolling platforming) and looks really boring. It's not that colorful (I HATE stuff that looks like it came out in the mid 1950s in some storybook; I'm talking about the cardboard backgrounds) because I would be attracted and interested in a game that's colorful and easy on the eyes. LittleBigPlanet just seems rather dull looking at it. The details are okay, but it's not my kind of game at all, for the way it looks and plays.
