Forums - Nintendo - Mario Kart 7's Maka Wuhu is an homage to Mario Kart 64

How much do you like Maka Wuhu?

I pick it all the time. 1 9.09%

I love it. 3 27.27%

It's the only track I can win. 4 36.36%

It's the reason why I play Mario Kart 7. 0 0%

Best. Track. Of. All. Time. 3 27.27%

Total:11

Funny that I won legit on the track last time I played it a week back (I believe no one used the glitch). People that have to depend on glitches to win are pretty damn lame and just suck at video games. Sure the glitch is there but does it mean you have to use it because you suck? I used to love kicking the shit out of all the CoD glitchers on WaW and BO (Wii). Funny when they cheat and still can't even win.

Maka Wuhu (a.k.a. Wuhu-Bergland) is undoubtedly a tribute to Mario Kart 64. This track got it all: Lame course design and a moronic unintended shortcut that decides the entire race. For this reason it has quickly become a fan favorite among lame gamers who pick this track all the time.

Personally I've never used the glitch, because I rather lose the race than feel like a loser. Funnily enough, some lame gamers still don't manage to beat everyone who doesn't use the glitch, despite an advantage of about 30 seconds on an about 90 seconds long track. If I were one of these people and this happened to me, I would probably kill myself.

What are your experiences with Mario Kart 64's... um, Mario Kart 7's Maka Wuhu track?

XD you make me laugh alot.

I hate that damn level. Too bad all i can do is lay a banana trail near the cliff.

Gaming on: PS4 Pro, Switch, SNES Mini, Wii U, PC (i5-7400, GTX 1060)

It's a freaking disaster Nintendo decided to/weren't able to patch this shortcut. Not only MK64, but also MKWii had some of these devastating shortcuts as well that ruined a great part of the experience.

Will they ever learn? I doubt it...

No big issues for me on this track. People uses glitch online, so I use it too. When I play with friends we agreed not to use. I never choose this track, and it's bad, because it's a fantastic track to race COMPLETE.

I thought it was an awesome track until news of the glitch came out. Now, it seems like, if one person picks it, the randomizer goes straight to it. Once I raced that track and every single person racing went for the shortcut (and got it!) even though I sat there firing red turtle shells at anybody who tried. I came in last place. Then, the game picked that track again! I turned my console off. If I could ban users or give them a shitty rating, I would.

I had figured something was up with Maka Wuhu, though i never bothered to look up what the actual trick was, i noticed this mad rush to jump off the edge of the track at one point, and then how i would suddenly drop 3, 4 places in the rankings for having done nothing

Fortunately i never ended up in rooms that were determined to vote for it, or at least over-determined.

Well at least with Rainbow Road on N64 that "glitch" was very helpful because that track was long as hell. I haven't played MK7 yet, but if this glitch gives you that big a shortcut on a track that's pretty short anyway, then yeah that's almost like a total game breaker.

Doesn't Nintendo have quality control testing anymore???

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

I am reasonably certain that the 3DS has the ability to patch, something they could force at least for online play.

They should just find a way to disable the track online.

Yeah, that would be the simplest solution. A once and done affair. It's not like anybody would miss the track anyway, because large stretches of it are really boring to play.

That would require a patch to be issued (since i don't think the server would have the capability to remove that from the possible pool. It's all software-side run), and in that case they might as well just patch the stage itself.
