It looks like Twisted Metal may include a PSN Pass after all, despite the hopes of director David Jaffe. According to The Gamers Hub, QA lead Justin Trease responded with a succinct "yes" during CES when asked about the inclusion of a pass. No other details as to what the pass will entail were mentioned, though typically the online pass model is used to restrict online content -- multiplayer, etc. -- to those who purchase new copies of a given title.

We've contacted Sony for confirmation. The publisher has more or less stated that all of its titles going forward will implement PSN Pass.

If you buy your games new then you shouldn't have a problem lol

I don't buy my games used(because used games don't keep up to my standard of how a disc should look after 10 years of use, and most of them haven't even been on the market for that long a time) and I still don't want to have to use a stupid code that is hackable (and believe me those codes are hackable, and there are stupid retailers leaving the code in the box, have unsealed boxes and then everybody can take the key... and much more options how my code is already in use) and then I have to worry about me being able to use the full content off the game day 1, and its not like it never happened to me, it happened twice already, once with counter strike: source and then again with battlefield: bad company 2, I am buying my games on consoles so that I don't have to mess arround with keys and stuff (well those keys are also copy protection, and that is one thing completely turning me off from a lot of PC games).

EDIT: BACK TO TOPIC: I do not approve any game that has online passes (though I still might buy them), so I am not happy to hear that twisted metal also plans on using such a code...

My housemate bought the limited edition of Battlefield 3 via preorder, he got it day one and when he turned it on and entered his code it apparently had already been used. What a great system.

I understand companies mind set but it still a bit weird. 5 people buy it new, this accounts for 5 players on the servers. `1 person exchanges it and so 4 people are playing when they account for 5, a new guy buys the used copy and now 5 people are playing again. No extra usage. Only problem comes from piracy copies I guess.


That said in this case I'm buying it new anyway.

This is exactly why the industry needs to start moving to digital downloads. I know that a lot of territories in the world (As I live in one) don't have the bandwidth for download-only but the option should always be present to download a game and thus circumventing the whole online pass conundrum.

Not a problem honestly it's expected.

OK I have a question about the pass thing. What if you rent the game from Gamefly? If the pass is restricted to one system, per copy, how will that work?

I think the answer to that question is obvious. (no online for u)
