Forums - Website Topics - VGC Needs to Follow Blackout or Put Up Banners in Place of Ads Today!

Many sites all accross the web are out protesting SOPA and PIPA.

They go from  complete black out of services, temporary black out, or banners of some kind all pointing you to contact your US representative and tell them about your dissapproval of these very harmful bills.

VGC needs to do something as well.

I urge all US citizens to pledge in this forum and follow the link to send your reps your statement! (It takes only a couple mins)

VGChartz isn't an American site. You don't want to owe ioi because then you owe him. And you don't want to owe him because then you're in his pocket. And once you're in his pocket--you ain't ever getting out of there.

lol, while VGC isn't an American site... this law is an international affecting situation. Once US laws change, so will the far easier to change laws in European states as well as every other nation and then ACTA will be enforced globally. (watch video)

ioi has at much at stake here as any US based site. Especially a site like this which allows a lot of user content to be presented.

Heed this wise man's warning people. ioi doesn't fuck around about debts.

OT: I don't think either bill will become law at this point and I'm glad internet whining made a difference for a change (Though it only made a difference because of large/influential tech companies).

I am the Playstation Avenger.

I know.  I just like looking for reasons to quote the movie "Snatch".  It was two minutes, five minutes ago!

Ohhhh, wasn't really sure which Guy Ritchie's movie was that from. I needed to know if you had compared ioi with either Bricktop or Hatchet Harry :D

What'd be the use with Wikipedia, Amazon, Google, etc. (aka sites that actually matter) doing their bit against a bill that's already dead in the water anyway? All these little sites jumping on the bandwagon like anyone gives a shit about them can go fuck themselves. Oh noez, ScrewAttack isn't going to E3? Who really gives a fuck? I'm glad VGChartz isn't getting in on this trendy shit.*

* Unless ioi replaces all the ads with "hatmoza is a cunt" banners. That would really show SOPA what's up!

Grassroots solidarity (especially with all my favorite webcomics, it seems) goes a long way toward showing that killing these bills isn't just a push by major tech companies.
