Personally I think no towns was just down to design choice, as someone said in another thread, you're playing as a party of fugitives, you don't have time to walk around a town and chat with everyone, and buy supplies, you're all wanted and the people who want you, want you dead. |
That's a really bad excuse. In MANY Final Fantasy games, you are in control of a fugitive party (Final Fantasy VI, VII, IX and XII) and that didn't prevent these games from having a world map and offering tons of free roaming... That excuse is just a cop-out.

That is a Sparta statement.

The franchise is so big it'll do great, whatever system it's on. Still won't come close to the PS3 version, but with its huge Japanese following that's no surprise. I'm guessing sales will be a split of about 65/35 in the west and 75/25 overall, similar to the first game.

No I don't think it will do too well. I think some people are over the franchise after FF13 and 14. I know I am I was really looking forward to FF13 but then I actually got to play it and I honestly could not even bother to finish it I was like 12 hours into it and just stopped and never touched it again thank god I only rented it. I have never done that with any game not finish it so that should say how crappy that games was and I am actually a fan of the JRPG genre.
So after FF13 I probably wont be buying another Final Fantasy game for a while especially when people are saying it's exactly the same with some improvements. They really need to make some drastic changes to the franchise if they want it to continue to sell as it use to. So I really doubt it will do as good as FF13 in the west for the Xbox 360.

There are less diehard FF fans on X360 than on PS3, so the 360 players might be fewer to forgive the "disppointment" of FFXIII a thus not pick FFXIII-2. Furthermore, the 360 audience is far more WRPG-oriented than PS3 players (see the breakdown for ME3 preorders, it's the exact reverse of FFXIII-2). And even though the 360 is on life support from SquareEnix (exclusive DLC), the X360 version may drop fairly quicker than the PS3 version on the top of being outsold 3 : 1 at launch. I hope it shows SqaureEnix that they were wrong from the start and that they will reconsider their strategy.
anyone who thinks FF13-2 will do better in the US on 360 than ps3, needs to pass the dutch because you must be high. ps3 version outsold 360 in every area, yes that means Americas. That was with bundling and exclusive promotion and MS saying they would outsell it. This time all they have is some useless dlc and thats gonna help them? please
Itll still sell over a million which in itself is a victory.
But eve in the west, FF and Xbox still dont really go together, despite the userbase advantage.

I think OVERALL the game is going to sell less, I truly believe that 13 was the most divisive game since maybe 8. And a good amoujnt of people will not take another trip to Gran Pulse. I know I wont. Especially when Soul Calibur 5 drops same day. rather spend my money on somethiing that I know doesnt suck
