Forums - Microsoft - Remedy hiring for "ground-breaking AAA console project" using Alan Wake engine

OXMUK

Alan Wake developer Remedy Software is working on a new high-calibre console game which will, hopefully, take the studio's AI to the next level.

The developer is hiring for a gameplay programmer and gameplay/AI programmer on the said "groundbreaking AAA console project."

"We want your help in taking our artificial intelligence, character & enemy behaviour to the next level," the listing notes.

"You will be working on the next iteration of Remedy's in-house engine that was previously used in Alan Wake and Alan Wake's American Nightmare."

Could the new game be Alan Wake 2? Remedy has yet to confirm the sequel's existence, though it may incorporate ideas and approaches from Alan Wake: American Nightmare, an action-focussed Xbox Live Arcade spin-off.

It will be a Zombie game, you heard it here first!

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

- George Orwell, ‘1984’

Ground breaking like Duke Nukem Forever?

I love remedy. I love Alan wake and hope to hell its Alan wake 2. Even then if they do a new cinematic experience I trust them. And there is history proof that I'll love it as well.
Remedy have imo produced the most cinematic game this gen in Alan wake. Its tv series approach was so good and drew you in. The soundtrack was genius and the narration unbeaten.
Remedy I love your work.

Something groundbreaking from Remedy? Must be some game about an earthquake.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

I wish they still had the rights to the Max Payne franchise, Remedy did a great job with it and don't like Rockstar's direction in Max Payne 3. As for their new project, I would like a story focused and polished action game.

Remedy seems like a really cool company, I didn't realize they were located in Finland.

ALSO, I was exploring their website and they have made a pretty successful iOS game. It costs $0.99 and according to them over 3 million people have downloaded. Not bad.

Platinums: Red Dead Redemption, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, Terminator Salvation, Uncharted 1, inFamous Second Son, Rocket League

AAA? That sounds very cocky!

Developers that announce games they describe as groundbreaking hardly ever are.

Man the hate on VGC for Remedy.
Ive liked the company since 1999. Brilliant studio. One of the best studios at storytelling.

Remedy I'm a fan. :)
