Could have began as a fanfiction work on the 2CH forums because all the refferece to Dragon Quest and such RPG, but it self bacame a full fledged story.. note that all characters have generic names like Maou, Maid, Head-Maid, yuusha (heroe), Winter prince, etc...

 

The same happened with this Manga:

Is a Story a guy wrote about him self on 2CH and was adapted to a manga by one member of those forums.. is only available online and is pretty good manga.. the lead character call himself molester... and call other characters by some characteristic or a generic name...

Continue endings are the worst. Docked Haganai a whole point because of it.

I prefer Continue ending than Alternative Story Endings.. Like Ochinko, Claymore or Soul eater... :/ I can wait for new seasons while I watch new animes.. but alternative edings are the WORST! even than fillers on Shounen-manga based animes... Short seasons are best friend of great anime adaptations I think... ^^

You can still find a finite endpoint without creating an original ending. It's not hard. It just requires some foresight and planning when you begin to animate something.

But a cliffhanger isn't an ending nor is a to be continued an ending. The plot is unresolved and the story arc is still open. Haganai settled nothing, Maoyuu was still in the middle of actual war/battle/fight. Both great shows with awful endings.

To add to Outlawauron and DemoniOtaku, I think the era of super long anime with filler are coming to an end. Bleach got cancelled at its last arc instead of making filler. Fairy Tail got cancelled. Most anime don't make it past two 12 episode seasons anymore. Hell Dragon Ball Kai didn't even finish (Though that's a case study of screwing up more than anything).

They are.. but I'm sure for summer or fall this same year we'll see a new season.. at least with maoyuusha I think.. Bokua ha tomodachi.. i'm not sure..
