LG’s New Fridge "Blast-Chills" Beer with a Jet Engine

Getting a canned brew from room temperature to drinkable requires at least 40 minutes in the freezer, even if you're in a hurry. But who has that sort of time to not drink? With LG's new fridge, lukewarm beers get frosty in just minutes.

The refridgerator feature, now on display at CES, comprises a special beer "Blast-Chiller" drawer that circulates cold air throughout the chiller compartment using an air jet derived from LG's air conditioners while the compartment base swirls each can to prevent ice crystals from forming. This combination swirl-and-chill can drop cooling times from 40 minutes to just five.

"It's perfect for a can of beer on a hot summer afternoon," Wayne Park, CEO of LG Electronics North America, told Physorg.

wow. The first time i may need to upgrade my fridge because of a new feature. but how does it compare to a can of beer in ice water in the fridge?

yea, i guess its about the same, but atleast no mess.

Haha that's awesome! Sounds expensive though, don't know if 35 minutes of savings is worth hundreds of extra dollars.
