Not really. I'm not a big fan of online gaming but there's demand for online features so there's not much you can do. As long as I get awsome single player experiences like Bioshock, Zelda, Xenoblade and Skyrim I'm happy.

lol... do you xxpect those to continue, there several times past when developers have flat out stated they wouldn't mind gettin rid single play modes. So lets that demand continues and we actually do start to lose Single player modes then how do you feel?

You can't use the actions of a few to imply that that's something that's going to be common with the industry. This is never going happen amongst the majority of developers. There's no reason to worry about any drastic decrease in single player modes. Single-player modes aren't in any danger, aside from games with mediocre single player modes.

The only reason we've seen this dramatic increase in online demand is because this generation has been the first to mainstream. The balance between single player and multiplayer games should likely stabilize after this gen when the novelty of online gaming wears off.

it was only hypothetical: The point im tryin to get across is what will happen if we consumers let developers and publishers take control of industry. What will happen if the agenda go permanent.. I we get there, no going back.

It lets me play Gears and Halo with my little brother.

So, no. I have never thought that. Not even a little.

I don't like playing online in general, and therefore it scares me a bit the way the industry is headed, but what can you do. There's still plenty of options for those of us who like playing offline still though.

Lots of things can be done just enough ppl aren't educated In what giving into certain things mean if they become permanent.

You don't seem to understand how things work. Online games got popular ONLY because enough people prefered playing online games to single player ones. There is no conspiracy its simply supply and demand. The type of games most people buy are the type of games that are more likely to get made. There is nothing you personally can do about the way the industry is heading. Just buy the type of games you enjoy and ignore the ones you don't. There will always be an audience for single player and multiplayer games.

As for the threadstarter's complaint, most online games still have splitscreen. I myself have played lan battles of halo 3 and nazi zombies with a bunch of friends by bringing a bunch of tvs and xboxes to one person's house. I agree it makes the game a lot less competitive and a lot more about having a good time. There is nothing stopping you from still doing that. Infact recently more and more games that have once restricted splitscreen have been adding that feature.

And to those thinking single player experience have gone down the drain, you simply aren't looking hard enough. Yes there aren't as many retail games that are completely focused on the single player experience, but there is a ridiculous amount of quality indie games with amazing single player experiences that rival the best retail games.

Nobody stated there was a lack single player games... the "what if they were to vanish". Your post didnt say anything in opposition to mine. Your right ppl DO perfer online to Single now with mindset read my post(s) again .. lol

You said.  Lots of things can be done just enough ppl aren't educated In what giving into certain things mean if they become permanent.

To me that sounds like you are saying that there are things he and you can do to change the way the industry is evolving.

And obviously if people wish online gaming never existed, at least some believe single player games have been hurt because of online gaming. Otherwise why would anyone even care if online games have become popular, if they have equal access to great single player content as before.

Also, PS3News, this gen hasn't been dominated by online games. Let's take a look at some of biggest IPs on the PS3 (which I assume is your console of choice).

Call of Duty: Mainly Online

Grand Theft Auto: Mainly offline

Gran Turismo: Mainly offline

Metal Gear Solid: Mainly offline

Uncharted: Mainly offline

Assassin's Creed: Mainly offline

Fifa: Mainly offline

LittleBigPlanet: About Even

Final Fantasy: Completely offline

Red Dead Redemption: Mainly offline

Resident Evil: Mainly offline

God of War: Completely offline

Battlefield: Mainly online

Batman: Completely offline (in terms of gameplay)

Killzone: Mainly online

Fallout: Completely offline

The Elder Scrolls: Completely offline

Aside from Battlefield and Call of Duty, online gaming isn't all that dominant

Hmmmm your list seems about accurate, But you left out a few popular online mutliplats out as well. Madden, NBA2K, and a few others i cant think of at this time.

Also Call Of Duty alone overshadows just about every game on your list when it comes to online gameplay time unfortunatly.

My deal with Online - Shoehorning, less couch multiplayer, and less replayability... you just assumed it was about less single player based off of OP and my discussion with forest spirit. to be even more honest I didnt initially and still havent read the OP just topic and my own reaso.

oh come on now! Madden been popular since the 16 bit era and online had nothing to do with it.

COD is the most played online game, yes, but how do you know how much hours are dedicated to SP campaigns, and COD is still just one game. THats like me saying dancing dominates the WIi, since so many people buy that one game

You are crazy guys, online gaming is awesome and has been awesome since the Doom days.

I agree for the most part, online is ok for some games, but it should not force devs to consider the online as a fundamental part of each game. I would rather ask devs to focus on gameplay and story than online.

Edit: Offtopic... who's the girl waving and sending kisses on your sig? I am getting in love the more I see her :)

They are both models promoting a car. Dont know who exactly they are though. :(

Here are some sites where i get some of my asian gifs at though. :)

She's Hwang Mi Hee. (same girl on both gifs).

On topic: I still play bomberman offline with my friends and it's always awesome. :P

Whenever I think about how many hours I wasted playing Warcraft III, DotA/DotA2 and HoN, i wish it didn't exist. And things are pretty serious in these games.

Yeah, I wasn't trying to say online gaming wasn't significant. I was just saying its more equal, and NOT dominating, with offline gaming. It just looks that way because past gens didn't really have much online play.

The reason some games like Madden aren't up there is because I went from the PS3's best selling game, COD, on down to the Elder Scrolls

That will never happen. The industry is controlled by the consumers. Consumers buy things they want. They don't buy things they don't want. The actions of developers and publishers are dictated by consumers. If they fail to act in such a way, then they will fall to lower sales.
