I say Sony. This gen it always been the HD twins going at it against eachother and Wii doing exceptionnaly well on its own turf. Yes the rly low price had to do with the sales and with the fact that it never got compared to the other two consoles, and with the WiiU aiming at a higher price we might see it get compared with the ps4 and the xbox720 alot more but nintendo will always have theyr fans and theyr franchises. I personally think that the only 1st party games that are REAL system sellers are from nintendo. Ppl buy nintendo consoles for zelda, mario kart, super smash, but I dont think ppl buy a xbox for gears and a ps3 for Uncharted, these ppl look at the systems power and price, and they will pick the one that is the most attractive and the exclusives would only be a plus. For example, I didnt buy a Ps3 over a xbox360 because of Uncharted, I picked it because of the blueray and the free online. Those were the factors that made me chose ps3 OVER xbox360, if the xbox had free online and bluray, I might have picked a xbox instead and I would be playing gears instead of uncharted and i wouldnt care and be happy with my gears and my Forza. BUT the WiiU, I know I will buy it and i wont care for a blueray or for the system's power, i WANT to play mario kart, zelda, metroid and smash. This is what i meant when I say that only nintendo has real 1st party system sellers. Sure all 1st party games help sells for a short period but Mario could sell a terrible console, while if microsoft or sony made a rly crappy console there is no way in hell that theyr first party games would be enough to sell it. If microsoft would have made the xbox360 with the power of the Wii, no one (atleast no gamers) would care for gears and no one would buy it and everyone would go for either Wii or Ps3.

VGKing said: Nintendo - No chance. The company is purely based on video games.
Sony - Possible. Recent financial troubles could mean bad news for Playstations future.
Microsoft - Possible. Look at the direction they are taking the Xbox 360. Seems like they are trying to move away from video games and into the home media center type of thing. |
This has been MS' goal from the very beginning. They got into gaming just so they could hold Sony back from doing it themselves.

So Nintendo IMO will stay, leaving Microsoft and Sony fighting eachother. And this quote above is exactly why I think Microsoft will win. Microsoft is doing a WAY better job at making ''home media consoles'' than Sony. Xbox offers so much now other than gaming that it is attracting alot of attention now. It is now known as a handy device that can be used by the entire family. Kinect attracts WAY more attention than PsMove. Sure... ''core gamers'' dont rly care for either right now, but ''casual gamers'' when they see kinect, they start dreaming of the possibilities, they imagine theyr video game characters doing the exact same thing they are doing (they will then be extremely dissapointed with the final result when they actualy try the Kinect games kinda of like most ppl who were expecting games like Zelda:SS were disapointed with most Wii games, but thats a other story), but when casual gamers look at PsMove, all they see is a Wii ripoff and they think ''I alrdy have a Wii, why would i need this''
This Gen, PS3 had the advantage of having the hugely known playstation brand and it sill failed to sell more than the Xbox360, and now with Kinect and all the media that Xbox360 is offering we saw its momentum grow ALOT this Holyday. With Sony's financial trouble + the Vita that COULD POSSIBLY fail (not saying its going to fail just yet but IMO its a likely possibility) + the PS3 last in sales in this gen's console war = The playstation brand getting tarnished = Less costumer support (that reminds me, I didnt even mention the PSN hack lol) So next gen, the xbox 720 will have WAY more momentum and brand recognition at launch than the x360 had, a advantage that the PS3 had following the hugely popular Ps2 but the Ps4 will launch with the playstation brand tarnished.
These are all speculation, like alot of ppl said it is unlikely that any of the big 3 will go away from the hardware business anytime soon.
Ps: Sry for bad english :P
