Purpose of this thread is to determine which places each console came (or will come) in each country.

Be good if those in the know can help out with the smaller less known about (sales wise) countries.

USA

1st. Wii - 39m~
2nd. X360 - 32m - 33m~
3rd. PS3 - 20m

3rd place is cemented for the PS3 here, but the battle for 1st is still on. X360 did roughly 2.8m according to us in Dec, so that puts the gap at just over 5m, meaning the X360 closed the gap 3.6m in 2011. It's on the verge of being inevitable, especially as the X360 is long overdue a cut.

UK

1st. Wii - 8.5m~
2nd. X360 - 7.5m~
3rd. PS3 - 4.7m~

Not too dissimilar to the US in terms of placing and how the end results are likely to pan out. Except it is a forgone conclusion the X360 will take 1st here, it outsold the Wii in the UK this year by 750k~

Japan

1st. Wii - 12.2m~
2nd. PS3 - 7.6m~
3rd. X360 - 1.5m~

Again, 3rd is well and truly cemented in place for the X360. 1st and 2nd are much further apart, and it's unlikely PS3 can topple Wii despite its gains this year (600k~) as it has a 4.6m lead to erase. Unless PS3 can stay somewhat flat around its 1.5m yearly mark for another 4 years, and Wii drop off very hard next year and is dead at the start of 2013, then I would say this is set and match. Wii has Dragon Quest coming at some point this year, so sales shouldn't dive too much (that and it doesn't have a high ceiling to fall from)

Germany

1st. Wii - 4.7m~
2nd. PS3 - 3.3m~
3rd. X360 - 2.5m~

Pretty even spread, they may seem like small numbers to overcome but this is what Germany has accumulated over 5 or so years, so it's a bigger challenge than it looks. I'm not sure what each of them have sold in 2011, but I would say the gen looks to end with these places in Germany (anyone care to correct me, feel free)

France

1st. Wii - 5.7m~
2nd. PS3 - 3.8m~
3rd. X360 - 2.8m~

Wii is much further ahead in France than it is Germany, so I don't see PS3 overthrowing the Wii here and taking 1st.

I think the Netherlands is:

1: Wii
2: PS3
3: 360

But I'll have to look up actual numbers as soon as I am able.

if i remember correctly Wii 1st, 360 2nd, and PS3 third in Mexico.

Why not put the current selling rate for each region?

Weekly? That's pointless, it's the holidays. Yearly, I kinda have where I can, Germany ect only go back so far for me to check.

Good read Seece. The battle between the 360 and Wii in the US and UK is going to be an epic one....and it could happen as soon as the end of 2012.
