Your right i really wanted to play Dark Souls on Hard Mode.

Me too. I propose from now on, every game should start with the difficulty of Dark Souls/Demon's Souls New Game+ and you couldn't change it no matter what.

This trend is nothing new and it's not exclusive to nintendo games. And it's different from people to people, some want everything unlocked from the beginning, some want to unlock things as they go, because they adapt to the game and what would have been a pretty tough challenge for them, becomes more doable because they've acquired experience with the game.

Personally, I believe the unlocking system to be the best, since it gives you a chance to experiment with both systems and giving you an actual chance to complete the game, for those who don't have the skills, patience or mental fortitude to deal wth a harder difficulty set. If you find normal mode to be passable to you and you've unlocked hard mode, then you could give it a try, but if you don't like the challenge of hard mode, at least you've already beat the game and have done the primary goals of it.

Unlocking things doesn't = forcing you to play. Being a completionist is your own personal choice (I'm a completionist myself) and game design shouldn't revolve around those who want to finish everything 100%, but around being accessible to just about everyone.

How many PS3 games apart from Demon's Souls and Dark Souls have you platinumed?

So far? Dark Souls, Demon's Souls, FFXII, Uncharted 2 and Dante's Inferno. I'm at 99% on GT5, I just haven't had the patience nor the time required to get the last gold trophy (level 40 for A-Spec).

Platinum trophies, at least to me, doesn't equal 100% completion, since most require to do things that you wouldn't normally do in a single playthrough. I've much rather spend my time on a RPG getting 100% items, side-quests, bestiary, etc. Than to get to the top 1% of an online FPS just for a trophy which means nothing in terms of how much you've completed a game.

I've had a couple of 1000/1000s in 360 RPGs such as Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey and Eternal Sonata. Sadly, didn't manage to finish PSU properly, it always kept up ending to the bottom of my backlog pile.

Yes, it indeed is a big difference between Platinum and 100%. That's what makes Platinum hunting annoying. (I dont have even one Plat. Closest is Assassin's Creed II but I couldnt force myself to pick all of the 100 feathers).

Why do you have Platinum on Dante's Inferno if I may ask? I personally love that game.

What is PSU?

Both because I loved the game (it's my second favourite Hack and Slash game this gen, behind Bayonetta) and because it was pretty straightforward. Most of it involved finishing the game on the hardest difficulty available from the start of the game (which I did my first playthrough on), collecting everything and the gates of hell arena. Only had to beat the game twice for the different outcomes between saving or punishing lost souls.

Phantasy Star Universe was a RPG that had a very strong online component.

The game does a pretty poor job at copy-attempt of GOW. It started off good, but the way Dante died and last 2 circles were just horrid

Completing the game is it's own reward. If you want to talk about time-consuming collect-a-thons, try getting all the figurines in Zelda: Wind Waker, where you have to take a picture of every single NPC, creature and boss in the game (only way to do it is to play through twice), you can only store 3 pictures at a time, you have to travel to a specific island every time your camera is full, you can only give the guy one photo at a time, then you have to exit, play a song twice to make a day go by, then go back down, rinse and repeat.

And I actually did this.

I really dont see the complaint about Luigi mode or whatever. If you dont like it, dont do it. It doesnt invalidate your original playthrough.

i am doing hero mode in Skyward Sword now, but that game was so awesome that I actually wanted to play through it twice, funny thing is that hero mode is actually easier than the first playthrough :)

That's your opinion. GoW didn't create the Hack and Slash genre, but there was indeed a lot of elements that Dante's Inferno copied from it. Nevertheless it was a great game, much better to me than GoW 3, though I agree that Malebolge was a pretty bad circle. I disagree on the Traitor's circle, Cocytus was very well captured in regards to how it's described in the Divine Comedy, that's why I enjoyed it a lot.

I can understand the sentiment in not allowing the hardest difficulty to be chosen at start.

BUT the Luigi thing is like an easter egg. They didnt' have to let you play as Luigi, its a mario game. Bitching about that is stupid.

Also I would much rather have them unlock a harder mode or Luigi, or whatever else than just get a random achivement to pop up saying "congrats 100%" Who gives a shit about that.

Lets weight the two. An achievement saying you got 100% or the OPTION to replay the game in a harder mode or with a new character. Yea sorry number 2 wins EVERY TIME. I don't need the game telling me i beat something 100% to know I beat it 100%. AND I can chose to play the game again if I want. IF I don't, then so be it. BUT what can you do when you get the achivement of 100%? Nothing, your done. You can only play the EXACT same game on the same difficulty, its nothing new. So if your okay doing that, why are you not okay doing it with a new character or harder difficulty ect.

The Core of thread is still being missed kinda... theres a few points, but they dont have to do with achievemen

your wrong. in order to 5 star Mario u must do Luigi part, the highest amount of stars you can get with just a Mario playthrough is 2. Now if they let 5 star with 1 playthrough(NSMBW) and just let luigi be optionanal you would be correct .. this has nothing to do with achievements .. dont believe in that system.

You must be kidding me? Who do you think you are? Just because you don't have any kind of argumentative powers with people in any of your threads doesn't entitle you to anything,

It's sad really, the way you embarass yourself.

whoops u did... the massive qoutebox makes it hard to separate yours ans snake - but again this is not not wanting unlock.. its the methods. If you want to do a pre-game make the 2nd part different. It is completely boring not challenging to play through Kirby again. They didnt challenging sphere locations, stage layout, bosses anything .. the very same twice! why just not have had EX unlocked? Why just made it optional for ppl who want to to worthless hard mode and give the full ending and game completion status to the normal playthrough. Why invalidate the 1st to make the second more appealing?

This is Nintendo what do you expect? Your lucky you didnt get a bill as a reward after beating them!! o_O
