Completing the game is it's own reward. If you want to talk about time-consuming collect-a-thons, try getting all the figurines in Zelda: Wind Waker, where you have to take a picture of every single NPC, creature and boss in the game (only way to do it is to play through twice), you can only store 3 pictures at a time, you have to travel to a specific island every time your camera is full, you can only give the guy one photo at a time, then you have to exit, play a song twice to make a day go by, then go back down, rinse and repeat.
And I actually did this.
I really dont see the complaint about Luigi mode or whatever. If you dont like it, dont do it. It doesnt invalidate your original playthrough.
i am doing hero mode in Skyward Sword now, but that game was so awesome that I actually wanted to play through it twice, funny thing is that hero mode is actually easier than the first playthrough :)
