"Sony Gives No Comment on PlayStation Vita Sales

Following a debut of 325,000 units, PlayStation Vita sales dropped 78% in the system's second week. With 72,000 units sold, the system placed below all other active systems, including the system it's supposed to replace, the PlayStation Portable.

Meanwhile, the 3DS saw its best week ever, selling 482,200 units, taking it above the four million mark in domestic sales. Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata had previously forecast that the system would reach four million by its first anniversary. It managed the feat two months in advance of that.

So what does Sony Computer Entertainment have to say about what appears to be a slow start for the Vita? Nothing at present, it seems. Bloomberg Japan asked for comment on the Vita's second week performance and was given the old "no comment" from SCE PR head Satoshi Fukuoka.

Perhaps we'll hear something once business returns to normal following the New Years break."

~~~~ Mario Kart 8 drove far past my expectations! Never again will I doubt the wheels of a Monster Franchise! :0 ~~~~
I mean what do you expect them to say at this point. It's still early and things can certainly turn around but as it stands the Vita's first two weeks are worse than the 3DS's first two weeks. Which wouldn't be so bad but the 3DS launched in March and the Vita during the holidays. When you figure in the required Memory card purchase, the Vita actually costs more than the 3DS at launch. Since the 3DS came with a free memory card.
I didn't think it would go to semi-crisis mode by the second week. The only explanation that I've seen in this thread that warrants any thought is that they sold out of the WiFi and only have 3G model left. Basically, any explanation will do over only selling 72k in the second week during the holiday season. Thanks for trying Sony...
That has to be rough if it is enough to shut up Sony PR.  I thought nothing shut them up?
Sony PR is the loudest, most annoying PR company in the business imo - I'm amazed they don't have anything to say
the nintendo fans are coming out almost like they were in hibernation all this time.
3DS, son!!  Great to see Nintendo handling business. They righted the ship, and are now stomping into 2012 with LOTS of momentum. Awesome!
I read this post and I LOLed. You are right even when it's obvious BS. They usually have something to say.
