Forums - Microsoft - No more "gun-like" avatar items starting Jan 1, 2012 on Live

http://forums.epicgames.com/threads/870773-Lancer-and-Hammerburst-avatar-items-no-longer-available-on-Marketplace-on-1-1-2012

Heads up! Starting on Jan. 1, 2012, the Lancer and Hammerburst avatar items will no longer be available on Xbox LIVE Marketplace. If you’ve purchased the items prior to Jan. 1, you will be able to keep them. A new policy goes into effect for all gun-like avatar items on the Marketplace, so get them while they’re hot.

====================

well they changed again very fast(in 2008,MS said you can't have any weapon type avatar item(lightsabers is okay),then later they start to allow it,but right now they change back,guess because some rating problem)

I'm guessing this is part of their family policy. I urge everyone who has a gun item for their avatar to wear them proudly.

Wow this is horrible. Microsoft family friendly marketing and Kinect is now affecting regular users.
I know avatars are aimed at families but still......

That's pretty weak from my perspective but I guess I can see why they are taking this stance. Time to buy tons of guns.....everybody's gettin' strapped.

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

Seems strange the poster console for the worlds best selling shooter and your not allowed a gun avatar?!?

I wonder what effect the people who have made this decision think it will have on the younger audiance!!

I'm pretty sure most of the kids have guns in their avatars anyways (unless policy doesn't let them cause of the age, I'm not sure how Live works)

Once the age has been entered, you can't change it. I made the mistake of putting my one of my son's actual age in and it's a pain in the ass with certain things.

Family settings => under 18 will not shown gun avatars;.problem solved.
