Forums - Website Topics - vg$ Icon Contest!

First of all this is unofficial, so unless ioi gives a stamp of approval it is just for fun. But I figured if we are going to have this VG$ thing now we might as well have a symbol or symbols to go along with it.

The rules are simple, entrants must be 64x32 or smaller (edit: ioi prefers around 20x10 if you can, but I suspect that the width can go past 20 as long as it stays reasonable), since this ideally would be something put in place of "VG$" we want to keep it relatively small and easy to fit in wherever needed. You can enter as many as you like, and the winner will be decided by popular vote after a few days (in another thread) provided we have enough interest to make it worthwhile. If ioi decides to endorse the idea then I will hand over the decision process to his discretion (aka he can choose one or let us choose or whatever he wants to do).

Well I will kick it off with 2 not so great entries, I expect these to be outdone easily as I know we have some very talented people on this site.

Also, if you have more than 1 entry please plase number them so people can reference them and please remember to continue your numbering across multiple posts.

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

I don't do photo shop well...but could someone try using the pie graph in the logo as the background and put the money sign on top of that?

Around the Network

I think this is about as tiny as I can go and still have meaningful shadows and such.

Sqrl #3

That one is 40 wide by 14 tall

I am now testing this in my text to see how much displacement it causes. It doesn't look too bad but I'm sure one of the other posters could come up with something just a bit shorter and make it look better and that would also fit into text without any displacement.

Testing a transparent background version:

This one is the only one saved in a .png format. you can definitely see it is having some displacement but luckily nothing too bad. Anyways the reason this one is in .png is because .jpg doesn't support transparancy and I wanted to test it.

Wow I kind of thought more people would be into this..or at least a couple folks would. Oh well, can't win'em all =P

To Each Man, Responsibility

I haven't fully gotten behind the idea of VG$ to begin with once, so maybe once right now it's kinda hard to drum up the motivation to do something for it.

I tried using photoshop to design the logo I was mentioning and I couldn't get anywhere. For some reason I couldn't get the $ sign to center on the background.

20x10 is TINY, lol.  Couldn't create any nice effects like Sqrl, but I made a really simple one that doesn't seem to displace text at all. .  I'm not really a fan of my own work, cus it seems way to plain.  But I wanted to try my hand at something with the size limitations.
