Forums - General - VGC Bronies (MLP:FiM fans), show yourself!

Bronies, that is adult male fans of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, seem to be infesting the internet from all quarters and popping up in all the internet communities i'm on, so i'm trying to smoke 'em out here on my internet home: VGChartz.

Why indeed? You're probably here to find out who else has become one of the infected around here.

But to guarantee that no-one who sees this thread will lie: if you are a Brony and don't post, you'll make Fluttershy cry, and no Brony wants that, do they?

So the gauntlet has been thrown down. Reveal yourselves that you might be identified!

I just clicked on this thread because I didn't know what the heck the thread title meant.

I am not a fan of MLP, Rainbow Brite, My Pretty Pony, Hello Kitty, or Strawberry Shortcake. Don't ask me how I know about all of these either.

Honest, I am not a Bronie... I swear...

I like ponies so much, I'm making a fanfic. I'm one of THOSE fans.

I wasn't a fan until about a week and a half ago. Then I figured I should watch an episode, just to see what all the fuss was about. The beginning was actually kind of interesting, and the theme song is a huge improvement... But then I couldn't leave it at that, cause the first episode ends in a cliffhanger. So I watched the second one. Cute. But that wasn't really representative of the entire series, because it was really just a continuation of the first episode.

So then I watched the third episode. Okay, that was kinda cute... But I still didn't get it. What's the big deal? So I watched the fourth episode. Rainbow Dash is pretty cool... and Fluttershy is adorable... But I was still confused. Why was I still watching this? Why do people love it so much?

So I watched the fifth episode. GILDA, YOU MONSTER! YOU HORRIBLE, EVIL, WRETCHED SPAWN OF SATAN! I HOPE YOU DIE IN A FUCKING FIRE, YOU BITCH! I mean... That was rather cruel. But I don't care. I mean, it's a show for little girls, right?

Onto the sixth episode! Okay, I do like puns.... But come on. This show's not all that great. Right? Right? Maybe if I watch just one more episode, I can say for sure that it's dumb...

Lucky number seven? There I was, hours later, still watching the show. How can I explain this? I mean, I'm not seriously doing this, am I? Really? This can't be happening. But then it hit me like... well, like a Sonic Rainboom. I like My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Screw it. I like the bloody show.

Part of the reason it's so fun is the fans. There's some seriously awesome stuff that people are making. Like... this:

The music is fanmade and it's really good (Applejack's theme and Twilight's theme are released so far). But the game itself actually looks like a lot of fun. There's lots of newer footage out too, and it really looks like the team is committed to seeing the game through. But that isn't the only game (though it's perhaps the farthest along). There's 2D platformers, RPGs, and even some weird investigation game. And this is all being done by people who just love the show, for no other reason than because they love the show. It's insane.

Plus, there's the fact that the people making the show actually know the fans exist, and do fun stuff like this (read the app names!) and this as a sort of "Hey, guys, we know you're there and just want to say we love you too!"

Two weeks ago, I would have laughed if you'd told me I'd ever like anything to do with My Little Pony. But what can I say? From its adorable cuteness to its (surprising) serious moments, I can't honestly say that it's a bad show at all. I enjoy it. Is it for everyone? Nah. Is it a kids show? Yeah, and it shows at times. But the creators did a great job of making something that's not just for kids.

Well, that was a long post to answer a question you didn't ask. A lot of links too. Oh well.

And don't you dare hurt Fluttershy.
