Forums - Politics - Obama's America, getting better or worse? He promised change - now we are getting it.

Shame the American people fell for the advertising of Obama 'Change'. In fact Obama's campaign team won top advertising awards. Because that's all it was. Just adverts selling the same old crap but under a different banner. Basic research will reveal Obama received most of his funding from the business elite in particular the Financial sector. Probably why Timothy Geithner is treasury secretary. There is a strong correlation between who can spend the most wins elections and the way to spend the most is to attract the donations of the wealthy minorities by doing what they want when in power.

I think the great Obama disappointment did a lot of damage to young people and minorities who started to believe in the process and system.

The will no longer be apart of the process, and that harms them ultimately in the end.

Sure these groups still support him, but he got millions of first time votes which he will never get again.

I have one very quick thing to say about this.

I have heard such an incredible amount of people talk about how the Republicans are the party of no. That Obama needs bipartisanship in order to get things passed, etc.

Could somebody PLEASE tell me when the Democrats have ever tried to work side by side with the Republicans (they say they try, yet their opinion of working side by side is for Republicans to simply accept what they want, not compromise and make it something that works best for both sides)? It is the biggest damned hypocritical thing I think I hear in every political debate..."blah blah blah, the Republicans just aren't willing to work with the Democrats."

STOP SAYING THIS. The Democrats aren't willing to work with the Republicans either. "Oh, but that is because the Republican stuff is bad."...um, right back at you? Maybe the Republicans are the party of no because they feel the Democrats stuff is bad too.

Seriously, continue having political debates, but stop saying Republicans saying no to everything is the issue, because the Democrats do the same thing to Republican stuff, over and over and over.

10. makes up for 1 - 9 yay for not forcing religion on people!!

Mentioning God is not forcing religion on people.

It is in a way, expecting non religious people to have to listen to that just for the sake of religious people, he should be impartial.

Too bad for them, there are 5 times more christians in US than atheists, majority of people would like/have no problem hearing that, why should he remain quiet for the sake of much smaller minority?

And nobody is forcing you to listen to anything

Yup, too bad for them, hopefully in the future as less and less people become religious it'll stop. I didn't have to do any of it in secondary school, don't believe my neice has to do it much anymore and she's in primary school, so we are progressing.

And religious people chose their religion, shouldn't force it on others. If they want to prayer/sing hymes, should do it in their own time.

I will say, I agree with Seece. Religion is pushed on people in so many aspects of life, and it is downright wrong. Whether we take offense to hearing religious things or not is irrelevant. No governmental speech should have anything to do with religion, because our government is supposed to be separate from church. Whether they say it in personal speeches is their own choice.

I see you have no actual argument, just an arrogant and very disrespectful reply. Nevermind, than.

My argument is fine, what's disrespectful is pushing religion on those that don't want it.

Its also disrespectful to ban or bar any mention of it if or when someone wants to bring it up.

'When someone wants to bring it up' uh huh, 'someone' not the president who should remain impartial, or schools. If you win an award for instance, you should be free to thank god or whoever you want, but the two instances I've used, it's disrespectful for non religious people to have to listen to it (Schools and politics)
