Obama IS another disaster like Bush though.

He and Bush were near identical outside of obamacare, which is now expected to raise the deficit since the money saving parts in the CBO were deemed illegal.

I don't think that's what anyone is saying. I'm pretty sure that the common consensus is that Bush was a pretty terrible president in many respects (and quite far from conservative when it came to many of those things as well). Obama is proving himself to be just as bad if not worse. I think that most people on here want to avoid people like Bush and Obama because, quite frankly, they both suck. The problem is that the only Republican candidates who are likely to win the nomination will likely turn out to be yet another terrible president. And even if we get a president who doesn't suck, it'd take an incredible leader to get Congress to do something good.

Yeah the thing is we compare Obama to Bush and then declare Obama is great.

That is quite pathethic. In comparison to recent Presidents he has done quite poorly, and already his average poll numbers are below most recent presidents and I expect low numbers will continue some more meaning his poll numbers will be terribile for a sitting President.

I would call him apart from Bush Jr the least effective leader since  Jimmy Carter.

However there is no Strong Republican... No Ronald Reagan and such so I think Obama will win again. I hope after winning he get more agressive with congress and he will have a short peroid to enact change.

Also, the fact you see dislike of Obama online is quite a big difference from 2008. During that time the entire Internet was obessed with the man.

You do realize that, in many ways, Canada has been a more conservative nation than the United States for decades now and is steadily becoming more conservative?

Many of the non-starters for American progressives because they're "too conservative" (cuts to entitlement programs, natural resource development, cutting corporate taxes, having a less progressive tax system) are centerist policies in Canada. With the growth of the population within Canada disproportionately favouring conservative regions, and demographics that traditionally support the Liberals steadily being captured by the Conservatives, Canada is only going to become more conservative.

Actually if you take away liberal Quebec, Conservatives control 70% of seats in English Canada and around 45-50% of the vote.

They are quite dominate apart from Quebec and Newfoundland and PEI.

What the heck does a pipeline have to do with extending tax breaks? 

This is all about playing politics at this point, positioning the opposition so one gets reelected come fall 2012... for all positions up for grabs.

How do Canadian conservatives differ from American ones?  Do the conservatives in Canada want to eliminate national health care, privatize their equivalent to Social Security, or shrink the national government to the size of a bathtub so they can drown it?

have you ever watch sunday news shows.  they rarely have dems on.  we know fox has is an anti-american terrorist organization but the other networks minus msnbc will let the pugs spew lies and deciet without challenging them on their b.s.

its amazing how people say he didnt focus on the economy... wth they think the stimulus was for.  the problem 1) not big enough because he fed into the republican b.s. about it not being over a trillion when it needed 1.5 by economist standards.  2) republican governors hoarded the cash and left the cities cash strap that needed it.  they wanted to make sure it didnt work.

elected dems have a mental issue.  they wont do whats right because they want their precious seats and think that republicans will use their vote against them.  im here to declare to them republicans are sadistic evil s.o.b that will use just the thought of you voting for something against you.   so why not just do what's right for the american people.  run on that

also the Stimulus did not work elsewhere either.

To be fair, conservatives don't really want to shrink the size of the government.  They just want to shift funding from education, infrastructure, and social programs to military, national security, etc.  They mainly just want the government to stay out of business and corporate issues.  They love the government involved in people's individual morality, or at least their views of morality.
